About the Organization

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.

Job Responsibilities

• The incumbent will be working with two faculty members at the Jamsetji Tata School of Disaster Studies and will be required to collect data and also write the draft report under guidance.
• Liaise with various govt departments dealing with the subject.
• Organise and Conduct consultative workshops with senior officials
• Any other tasks given by the faculty members.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• M.A/M.Sc in Disaster Management, Climate Change, International Relations, Policy and Planning, with at least 5 years of work experience. Those with research experience will be preferred.

Skills and experience:

• Interest and experience in disaster management, climate change and sustainability
• Knowledge of Disaster Management Act, governance, governance frameworks, institutions involved in governance, policy and overall governance architecture
• Familiarity with best practices in this domain
• Analytical skills, Strong communication (oral and written) skills in English, Report-writing abilities.
• Adhering to deadlines
• Personal traits such as humility, politeness, self-discipline, independent thought, openness to learning, and collaborative spirit, detail-oriented and hard working.

Salary

About Rs. 50,000 per month. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
