Job Description

As part of our partnership with the State Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Andhra Pradesh, the Senior Officer will support the implementation of in-line chlorination (ILC) programs that aim to bring safe drinking water to rural households. Reporting to the Senior Manager, SPMU (AP), you will work closely with state and district-level officials to help advance these efforts across the state.

Your day-to-day will include coordinating with officials in the AP Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWS&S) department, providing hands-on technical assistance at the district and block levels, facilitating collaboration, and monitoring program data — all to ensure the smooth execution of ILC initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Support:

  • Co-lead liaison efforts with AP RWS&S, supporting day-to-day departmental needs on ILC initiatives and water disinfection in collaboration with the Senior Manager, SPMU.
  • Assist AP RWS&S in the deployment, calibration, and troubleshooting of in-line chlorination devices while providing technical support to district and block-level officials for proper installation, operation, and maintenance (O&M).
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess device functionality, address operational challenges, and ensure seamless implementation of ILC systems across the state.

Capacity Building & Training

  • Support in developing and delivering training modules to AP RWSS state, district and block levels, along with technicians, and valve operators.
  • Facilitate district- and block-level training sessions on ILC installation and O&M.
  • Assist in organizing technical sessions, capacity building workshops and field demonstrations in collaboration with AP RWS&S
  • Assist in organizing events on water disinfection and chlorination initiatives in the state

Monitoring & Data Management

  • Support in collecting and compiling field data on ILC device performance and chlorine residual levels.
  • Assist in analyzing water quality data to ensure compliance with national and state-level guidelines.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Support interaction between state, district, and block officials, ensuring smooth implementation of ILC initiatives.
  • Assist in government liaison efforts, particularly at the district and sub-district levels.
  • Support the integration of ILC into state rural water supply plans, under the guidance of the Senior Manager.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure ILC SOPs  and advisories comply with national and state water quality guidelines under National Jal Jeevan Mission mandate
  • Maintain project documentation, SOPs, and technical records on program operations to provide updates to AP RWS&S officials
  • Develop case studies and best practice reports to inform programmatic improvements.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Economics, Public Health, Environmental Science, Water Resources, Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in the water sector or public health programs, ideally in a technical support role to government departments in Andhra Pradesh
  • Hands-on experience with water treatment technologies, chlorination systems, or rural water infrastructure is a strong plus
  • Proven ability to prepare clear, structured reports and documentation for complex, multi-stakeholder government projects
  • Experience working with government agencies or rural water supply projects is preferred
