About the Organization

The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent think tank doing legal research and assisting the government in making better laws. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future.

Job Description

Vidhi is looking for one Senior Officer in its Finance team to work out of its Delhi office. The Senior Officer – Finance will work with the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for the following.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

  • Ensure timely delivery of all financial information and reports required by funders and partners.
  • Oversee statutory compliances and filings, coordinating effectively with Auditors and the Company Secretary.
  • Prepare annual and project budgets; track and analyse variances between actuals and budgets.
  • Develop and present accurate financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to strengthen the organisation’s financial sustainability.
  • Identify and implement cost-optimisation opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Conduct research on investment avenues and develop prudent financial strategy for the not-for-profit framework.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Essential

  • CA (Intermediate) qualification with strong academic grounding in finance.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrable experience in financial management.
  • Thorough knowledge of Indian statutory legislations, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Tally, and MS Office applications.

Desirable

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective engagement with funders, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to streamline and automate finance processes through technology-led solutions.
  • Exposure to not-for-profit environments.
