About the Organization
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.
Launched in 2017, the School Initiative for Mental Health Advocacy (SIMHA) is an advocacy, research and capacity-building field action project of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. SIMHA supports schools through knowledge sharing, training of school leaders, teachers and counselors and promotes the well-being and mental health of children and adolescents.
Job Responsibilities
- Providing mentorship and supervision (individual and group) to school counsellors for the following:
- Implementing a well-being and career program with high school students
- Conducting group sessions with students in an effective and ethical manner
- Conducting teacher capacity building sessions, parent engagement sessions and mental health promotion activities in schools
- Liaising with stakeholders
- Ensure quality of programme delivery, adhering to ethical standards of practice
- Preparing and maintaining reports documenting supervision sessions including key learnings and actionable insights
- Field visits across districts in Maharashtra (Nashik, Thane, Nagpur, and Amravati) to review counsellors’ work
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the project director and project coordinator
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Have completed a Master’s degree in Psychology with a minimum 3 years experience,
- Prior experience in working with children and adolescents, school settings or in socioemotional learning programs.
- Possess good writing and communication skills in English, and Marathi/Hindi.
- Have proficiency in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation, data analysis and use of virtual platforms for training
Salary
Rs. 30,000/- per month
