About the Organization

Subsequent to the recognition of Soil Survey as a National Priority in 1947, a need was felt for creating a centralized information warehouse to assimilate, verify and disseminate information on the nature, extent and distribution of soils in the country. Consequently, the Government launched All-India Soil Survey Scheme in 1956, which expanded in 1959 as the All-India Soil and Land Use Survey Organization (AIS&LUS).....

In 1969, the AIS&LUS was bifurcated into two wings, one being under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR). It was later in 1973 reconstituted as a Directorate through a Presidential Notification. The Directorate was accorded the status of a Bureau in 1976 and was named as National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP) with its Hqrs. at Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is one of the fourteen Natural Resource Management (NRM) institutes of the ICAR entrusted to conduct RD&T activities mainly in soil survey, remote sensing applications, land evaluation and land use planning.

Job Description

ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Regional Centre, Delhi is Applications are invited for Ol position of Young Professional (YP-11), purely on contractual basis, time bound and nonregular nature under the project entitled "Soil suitability eva_luation for delineation of potential areas for rapeseed-mustard in India using GIS modelling techniques", a collaborative project between !CAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), Regional Centre, Delhi of ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur and the !CAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed Mustard Research (IIRMR), Bharatpur, Rajasthan, sponsored by the ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Master's Degree in Computer Application / Information Technology / Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Data Science / Computer Technology/ Agriculture preferably m Agronomy, soil science Environmental sciences/ Allied Sciences having experience in Remote Sensing & GIS data ~alysis and their processing using different statistical tools and techniques/Life Sciences/ or Diploma in Agriculture as per ICARrule Desirable: Experience in Remote Sensi~g & GIS, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learnino / Data Science / Compu~er Techno~ogy/data analysis and their pro~e~smg using different stattsttcal tools and techniques.
