About the Organization

The AI for Impact Fellowship is a collaborative effort anchored by 10x Impact Labs and executed in partnership with Video Volunteers to bring together technologists, social impact organizations and practitioners to reimagine, co-design, build, test, research, and innovate applied AI solutions for social good while fostering a sustainable community of practice.

About the Fellowship

Like the Internet and Mobile technology revolutions before, strong AI is poised to change the world and how humans interact with it. While there are many risks to consider, it is also important to imagine how this goes right. What could super intelligent agents with the best intentions look like?

Can AI solve some of the most critical challenges our society faces around Education, Employment, Livelihoods, Water, Climate Change and more? Can we work with AI to build a world which is more sustainable and equitable? What does that future look like? Now is the time to imagine those futures!

AI for Impact Fellowship is a space where we invite people to come together and imagine, create and demonstrate how strong AI has the potential to positively impact and solve real world problems!

AI for Impact Fellowship is a 3 month, part-time, project oriented program for individuals to imagine and create impactful solutions to critical development and societal challenges in India with AI.

Goals:

This 3-month project oriented fellowship is for individuals to:

• Explore different AI tools, and imagine what stronger AI is likely to emerge.
• Learn from each other and experts working in the technology and social sector.
• Brainstorm what a positive future with strong AI might look like.
• Use existing AI tools, create interactive conversational agents that communicate a vision.

Fellowship Structure:

The AI Impact Fellowship is part-time (10+ hours a week) which will be online and primarily asynchronous. We begin with brainstorming the future we want to see, and end with a showcase of AI projects fellows produced. In between we hear from industry experts about where they see the technology going, and from NGO organizations about the challenges they face. We develop ideas into plans for a project to discuss at midterm, and our plans into projects and prototypes for the final.

• Engaging with experts from the social impact & technology sector to understand their challenges

Co-design

• Learn from each other
• Testing, iterating & finalising project ideas
• Presentation of final project idea during mid-term
• Initiating prototype development

Prototype

• Creating the prototype
• Presenting the developed prototypes on Demo Day
• Documenting the project journey and outputs
• Debriefing to capture learnings and outcomes

Eligibility

• People in India
• Have access to reliable, high-speed internet
• Care deeply about some social impact issue
• Able to commit 10+ hours per week for 3 months from Jan-April’25
• Students, professionals, or individuals on a sabbatical
• Working on or eager to develop a high-impact AI idea
• Familiarity using AI tools to write code, create media or solve problems
• Have ideas about how AI can positively impact life on Eart
• Enthusiastic about technology’s role in social impact
• Eager to learn, collaborate and create change
• Self-motivated and keen on working on individual projects
