Event Details

India Livelihoods Collective, in collaboration with CSRBOX and Agri Tourism Development Company Ltd. (ATDC), has curated a two-day virtual Boot Camp on ‘ Rural Tourism: Unlocking the Local Potential for Livelihood Creation’ that helps you build an end-to-end understanding of the business sustainability in this sector, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us to learn through specially designed sessions and some of the best practices of strongest enablers from across the country.

In the last ten years, India's tourism industry has seen significant growth. Rural tourism accounts for upto 20% of the total tourism activity. In recent years, various trends are observed around community based rural tourism through innovative ways of connecting with the cultural and natural landscapes. Rural tourism also provides a sustainable way of conserving these landscapes while providing livelihood and recreation to the communities. 

The Boot Camp

 

The Bootcamp-VI on ‘Rural Tourism: Unlocking the Local Potential for Livelihood Creation’ is planned in form of two sessions on the 26th and 27th April, 2021 and aims to develop an end-to-end understanding of the professional. The programme builds organisational knowledge and capacities in terms of SOPs, implementation, management, key challenges associated and learning.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board also referred to as the 'MPTB' was established in 2017 as non- profit company with an objective to promote tourism in Madhya Pradesh. Development of tourism with public, private partnership in sustainable manner, investor facilitation, skill- development, publicity/promotion of tourist destinations nationally & internationally, identification and development of tourism infrastructure are the core objectives of the Board. Brief about the Responsible Tourism Mission of Madhya Pradesh. Important components and how to benefit the local community via responsible Tourism. Projects being implemented and planned under the umbrella of responsible tourism, And how to ensure the alternate source of income for local community through tourism activities.

 

Sham-e-Sarhad, Hunnarshala foundation

Hunnarshala derives its ideological nourishment for making positive contribution towards its objectives of promoting and demonstrating people centric, environment friendly, artisan based approaches and technologies.Hunnarshala Foundation in association Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan, UNDP and State government, worked with the Hodko village community to build Shaam-e-Sarhad (Sunset at the Border) Village Resort. The Shaam- e-Sarhad Village Resort is open during Mid of October to Mid of March. It is a seasonal resort. Operated and Managed by the local community of Hodka Village. The Hodka Endogenous Tourism seeks to promote Local Culture and Craft based Tourism for Sustainable Livelihoods and integrated rural development.

Kabani Community Tourism and Services Pvt. Ltd.

Kabani’s one and a half decade of research and advocacy experience in tourism as researchers and campaigners has enabled them to redefine their approach towards tourism. In 2014, a company was formed, Kabani Community Tourism and Services (P) limited which is a social enterprise to promote sustainable community tourism. Kabani first started by setting up its non-profit initiative as a creative space and then, having learned from it, formed a company. In that way, they also followed ‘the other direction’, as compared to many other companies. This approach is also aimed at self-sufficiency of the NGO and its activities. Kabani develops programmes through a very participatory process.

The project Tourism & Culture, Water Conservation, Livelihood, 3. Village Khokhar Kalan, Mansa, Punjab. The project has been reviewed by MoRD officials, state teams & it has received a loud appreciation from the teams. This project has also featured in the magazines issued by MoRD named Spectrum (Photo Documentation of Agriculture & Allied Activities) & Sankalan II & also in magazine (Sade Pind) issued by Government of Punjab. This project has received Skoch Order of merit & Gold award in July 2018. This project has been also covered by Doordarshan team & is also listed on tripadvisor.in. This project has also gone through Social Audits under MGNREGS.
