About the Organization

The International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading Foundation (ISTAT Foundation) was founded in 1994 to support individuals and institutions that promote the advancement of commercial aviation and humanitarianism.

Mission: We support the future of commercial aviation through investment in learning & development and social responsibility, utilizing funds and resources from the ISTAT community.

About the Grant

Offering grant funding to organizations around the globe that advance commercial aviation or engage in aviation-related humanitarian efforts.

In 2025, we will be prioritizing educational projects and programs that support environmental sustainability within aviation to address the growing need for sustainable practices in the industry.

The Grants Program is administered by the Grants Committee of the ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees and consists of two types of grants: educational grants and humanitarian grants.

• Educational grants aim to nurture early enthusiasm for commercial aviation among young individuals, introducing them to the diverse range of careers available within the industry.
• Humanitarian grants focus on supporting organizations globally that leverage aviation to save lives, promote human welfare, and alleviate suffering.

The average grant value in 2023 was US$8,500.

The committee is responsible for reviewing and scoring the applications and presenting a slate of candidates to the Board of Trustees for final approval. Programs or projects with an international focus and themes related to aviation and sustainability will be prioritized by the committee.

The ISTAT Foundation has a pre-determined budget for the Grants Program and receives requests for more funds than are available to grant. Therefore, there may be many exceptional applications that receive partial or no funding. The applicant may request feedback on the decision if desired.

Eligibility

Educational Grants:

• Registered non-profit organizations offering aviation-focused educational programs, including

• Museums
• Educational institutions
• Industry and student associations, and
• Youth organizations.

Humanitarian Grants:

• Registered non-profit organizations focusing on aviation-related humanitarian prevention, relief, and recovery for:

• Natural disasters
• Human-generated disasters, or
• Health-related crises.

How to Apply

Submission Deadline: 26 May, 2025

• Any qualified organization can apply for a grant on the Grants Program webpage at https://foundation.istat.org/Programs/Grants.
• There is a single application form for both types of grant requests – educational and humanitarian.
• The following organizational documents are to be uploaded to the application: Governing documents, specified financial statements (see FAQs), annual reports, and promotional materials (brochures, photos, etc.)
• Application materials must be submitted in English
