Job Description

The Sustainable Agricultural Practices Internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Bihar's agricultural transformation while gaining hands-on experience in climate-smart agriculture and sustainable farming practices. The intern will work on projects that aim to enhance farmer livelihoods while promoting ecological sustainability and climate resilience in the agricultural sector.

Job Responsibilities

The selected intern will engage in the following areas:

Research and Analysis

• Study current agricultural practices in Bihar and identify opportunities for sustainable interventions
• Analyze climate-smart agricultural techniques and their applicability to Bihar's context
• Research water conservation methods and efficient irrigation practices
• Document traditional agricultural knowledge and assess its integration with modern sustainable practices

Field Work and Data Collection

• Assist in conducting field surveys and agricultural assessments
• Document farming practices and collect data on crop patterns, water usage, and soil health
• Support the implementation of pilot projects in sustainable agriculture
• Help organize farmer consultations and knowledge-sharing sessions

Project Support

• Contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture guidelines and recommendations
• Support the preparation of technical documents and training materials
• Assist in organizing capacity-building workshops for farmers
• Help create monitoring frameworks for agricultural interventions

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Graduate/Post-graduate student in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, or related fields
• Strong academic record with focus on sustainable agricultural practices
• Understanding of climate change impacts on agriculture

Technical Knowledge

• Familiarity with climate-smart agricultural techniques
• Understanding of water conservation and soil management practices
• Knowledge of agricultural economics and market systems
• Experience with data collection and analysis

Essential Qualities

• Strong analytical and research abilities
• Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi
• Ability to work effectively with rural communities
• Willingness to conduct field visits
• Understanding of Bihar's agricultural context
• Commitment to sustainable development
