Job Description

  • To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching centre, through the management of in-house teacher development programmes and support.
  • To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English. 
  • To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience.
  • To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission

Job Responsibilities

Completing core teaching duties as per global standard (see below), and including all course types and more complex programmes.

Teaching to higher standards of ELT – Teaching Skills level 3. Effective pacing of work to suit changes in the external market

Contributing to the development of teaching and assessment materials, act as duty officer and deputise for Senior Teachers as required, carry out administrative duties

Supporting teacher development and performance in line with corporate systems and quality Plans in line with Teaching Excellence. Deliver training sessions in areas of expertise,and act as formal lesson observer

Line-managing teachers and assist with the recruitment of new teachers

Ensuring safeguarding and other guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:

  • Safeguarding
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Health and safety

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • University degree ( in any discipline)
  • TEFL-I qualification (CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL)
  • Recognised diploma in EFL (i.e. DELTA or Trinity Diploma TESOL)

Work Experience   

Essentials

  • 4 years post CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL experience.
  • Experience in line managing/ coordinating teaching teams.
  • Young learners aged 800+ hours
  • Adults English 1500+ hours, including IELTS 6
  • At least 2 years experience in training and mentoring teachers
  • Experience in materials development
  • At least 2 years experience in managing quality to formal standards frameworks
  • Line management experience, preferably academic/teacher
  • At least 2 years experience in managing the classroom/customer services interface for business objectives (for example dealing with complaints, re-registrations, parent/student engagement, contracts, client meetings, school partners)

Salary: 

Monthly pay scale between 74,167 INR - 1,38,167 INR (depending on qualification and work experience).
