We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions. By focusing on the quality of education provided within the communities and ensuring these outcomes are measured, we have created a model that can be replicated, localized, and sustained by governments. Room to Read has globally distributed offices and staff and has so far benefited more than 39 million children across 23 countries.

Primary Duties and responsibilities:

  • Review and record transactions in INTACCT accounting software, accurately and in a timely manner at the Country Office.
  • Review State Office financial transactions, provide feedback, and build the capacity of the state team in alignment with RTR systems and statutory requirements.
  • Assist the Country Office finance team & coordinate with state offices for monthly closure
  • Bank reconciliation, Scrutiny of ledger accounts monthly, and accuracy across all aspects of financial transactions with an emphasis on the recording of material expenses under the correct program head.
  • Processing payments within a defined compliance framework and ensuring timely availability of funds for program and operational purposes.
  • Monitoring visits to the state office for review of transactions and capacity building.
  • Monitoring of INCO’s financial transaction data accuracy including accounting for donor management at Intacct and generating the monthly reports as per the requirement of Room to Read.
  • Extend support during various audits viz., statutory, donor audit, internal audit etc., and take corrective action to address audit issues, wherever required.
  • Assist during various regulatory compliances viz., Income Tax Assessment, TDS, PT, FCRA etc. by providing necessary details and documents.
  • Any other job assignments on a need basis to implement accounting and financial guidelines or to meet the reporting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or related field (accounting, management, etc.) with 5 years’ experience in NGO sector.
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office applications – word, excel, and other accounting software
  • Experience in working in Global Accounting Software
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English.

  • Strong Accounting Fundamentals
  • Flexible attitude towards changing priorities and ability to multi-task with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent Knowledge in MS Excel
  • Team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
