Job Description

The Associate Director, Partnerships & Communications will be expected to lead the Fundraising, Donor relations and External partnerships sub-verticals and co-manage a team of Associates and Managers. You will also partner closely with the Projects Vertical Heads to streamline the fund utilisation process pertaining to all the projects that Madhi undertakes.

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

• Design a robust strategy and execution plan for fundraising and communications to meet Madhi’s objectives with excellence.
• Achieve annual fundraising targets while establishing a sustainable funding base for the future.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive pipeline of potential donors, evolving strategies to engage and secure funding.
• Create compelling grant applications to secure institutional grants and support funding opportunities.

Donor and Partner Relationship Management

• Oversee and manage relationships with donors, ensuring regular interactions and accurate financial and statutory compliance.
• Establish a donor management policy and operational framework.
• Build and sustain a strong network of donors, funding partners, and synergistic organizations.
• Strategically manage and leverage relationships to align with Madhi’s vision and mission.

Communications Strategy and Leadership

• Lead the development and execution of Madhi’s communications and outreach strategy.
• Manage both internal teams and external freelancers to ensure the delivery of high-quality communication outputs.
• Create impactful presentations and periodic reports for existing and potential donor groups.

External Relations and Representation

• Represent Madhi and its core values in all interactions with stakeholders, partners, and potential donors.
• Build and nurture relationships with organizations aligned with Madhi’s mission of transforming education outcomes.
• Advocate for and drive collective action in educational reform through strategicpartnerships.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure adherence to allocated budgets and collaborate with the Associate Director, Projects, to drive financial and operational compliance.
• Set and monitor meaningful goals for the external relations subvertical to sustain and enhance existing partnerships.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in fundraising, donor management, and communications.
• Strong ability to develop and execute strategic plans with measurable outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling narratives.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in managing teams and collaborating across functions.
• Passion for education and commitment to Madhi’s vision and values.

Prerequisites include:

• At least 10-15 years of relevant work experience in leadership roles with a minimum of 6 years in a managerial position
• Experience of having directly managed a team of at least 3-5 mid-level managers
• Experience of having worked with any grant making institutions or CSRs before (or) raised funds  for a non-profit (or) have experience in corporate / consulting in areas such as strategy, marketing, fundraising etc.
• Experience in the education/development sector would be an added advantage
• A postgraduate degree in a relevant field of study from a reputed institution
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and all Google Suite applications
• At least spoken knowledge of Tamil language
