ities and their families by raising awareness and campaigning for their rights, opportunities and services throughout the nation.
Job Description
C U Shah Centre for Deafblindness and Multiple disabilities, Thane is the centre managed by Sense International India. The centre is committed to render quality services to children and adults with Deafblindness/Multiple Disabilities (Db/MD). The centre ensures capacity building of various stakeholders for the cause of deafblindness / multiple disabilities. The position requires managing and leading the centre efficiently; coordinating and guiding the staff to render quality services for students with Db/MD.
Job Responsibilities
Overall management of the centre
- Handling day-to-day administration of the centre activities, and information dissemination about deafblindness and the centre.
- Monitoring the day-to-day functioning of the centre, and staff members, planning their schedule, evaluating their progress, etc.
- Guide/support and monitor staff to plan appropriate services for students with Db/MD in the centre by ensuring the quality of intervention.
- Prepare an appropriate timetable/work schedule for staff.
- Follow up progress of individual students with Db/MD and support staff in preparing effective stories of change.
Other Requirements
- Should ensure everyone works without any discrimination and prejudice with students and staff of various social, cultural, economic, and educational background.
- Prepare narrative report based on centre activities and submit to Head of Programmes on timely basis.
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and records of the performance of the centre.
- Willing to travel outstation for training as per the needs of the centre and personal skill development.
- Organizing meetings, and training for promoting the concept of deafblindness, and increasing student enrolment in the centre.
- Facilitate the meeting of family members and staff of Db/MD.
- Managing the centre budget and coordinate with finance team at head office.
- Networking and advocating with Govt. departments, and development organizations with respect to the promotion of Db/MD & influencing policies of the state in this respect.
- Encouraging publication of articles, news reports, success stories and other material in newspapers, journals and periodicals for creating public awareness.
- Maintaining the database of the staff and students enrolled in the centre.
- Sign up for Sense India’s safeguarding policy, including child and vulnerable adults protection policies and ensuring that the safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels.
- Facilitate donor visits and volunteer engagement.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Ideally a person with a master’s degree with 3-4 years of working experience in the development sector.
- Good computer knowledge i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Online platforms, etc
- Able to analyse the situations and adopt an effective course of action.
- Takes initiative and offers new ideas.
- Knowledge of networking with like-minded organisations.
- Written and spoken communication skills in English, Hindi and Marathi; knowledge of an additional language/s will be an added advantage.

- Experience in working with disability programs.
- Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels.
- Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Personal commitment to improving one's own knowledge and skills.
