About the Organization
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is the nodal agency in the administrative structure of the Central Government for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of India’s environmental and forestry policies and programmes.
The Ministry also serves as the nodal agency in the country for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and for the follow-up of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The Ministry is also entrusted with issues relating to multilateral bodies such as the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), Global Environment Facility (GEF) and of regional bodies like Economic and Social Council for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) on matters pertaining to the environment.
Job Description
- Overall Supervision of the Climate Change Adaptation issues of the project.
- Coordination with all SPMUs, UNDP and NCSCM in connection with their Climate Change Adaptation
- Reporting to NPC on the progress of the project iv. Vulnerability assessment & Coastal research
- Planning of ecosystem and community-based adaptation intervention
- Building climate resilient livelihoods and enterprises
- Developing value chains and strengthened access to markets
- Capacity building of local communities for community-based adaptation and climate-adaptive livelihoods
- Creating Network of Institutions for enhanced climate resilience
- Integrated coastal planning and governance in coastal States/UTs
- Work related to National Coastal Mission
- Integrating climate change adaptation in Government policies.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Master’s degree in Climate Chan ge and development, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Sustainability, Environment al Economics or Marine or water resources.
Desirable
- Persons with Ph.D. with research experience, published papers and post qualification experience in the relevant filed would be preferred.
Relevant Work experience
- More than 20 years of working experience in the area of climate change adaptation, coastal ecosystem management, livelihood projects Experience of working with Central/State Government s for externally aided projects Field experience practical knowledge in sectors of Climate Change Adaptation, Ecosystem Based Adaptation, and diversified livelihood coastal Projects. Good working knowledge in English, Hindi and Microsoft Office software
