Job Description
WWF-India is one of the largest organisations engaged in wildlife and nature conservation over the past 50 years. We are inviting applications from interested candidates for the position of Communications Officer for TRAFFIC India division.
Job Responsibilities
- Write and edit stories, updates, articles and other content for newsletters, and websites.
- Write and edit scientific research articles, reports, fact sheets and other publications.
- Help in organising press conferences and also write and edit press releases and web releases.
- Help in responding to media queries on time.
- Identify communication opportunities by closely working with the programme team and report on these periodically.
- Coordinate the development of capacity-building communication materials such as identification posters on species in trade, guidebooks, ID cards, online resources and others.
- Create campaign material for the awareness campaigns and help with its release and outreach
- Create content for digital communication channels and platforms.
- Support dissemination of communication materials including posters, leaflets, ID cards etc.
- Develop short films to capture programmatic updates.
- Develop short films to highlight key conservation issues related to the programme.
- Help design publications, social media posts, awareness campaigns and other publications as required.
- Coordinate with other communicators for joint campaigns and outreach initiatives
- Explore and introduce innovative and creative means of communication.
- Undertake any other related work.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English/Marketing/Creative Writing / Journalism / Communications (or a related field). Candidates with a Master's degree in the above or related field may be given preference.
- At least 2 years of work experience in a similar field.
- Excellent writing and editing skills required.
- Conversant with MS Office and Canva; any design skills with the Adobe Suite or Corel Draw would be considered a plus point.
- Working knowledge of AV equipment for capturing stills, recording video stories, facilitating podcasts.
- Working knowledge of online platforms: WordPress CMS, e-newsletter services, social media platforms and relevant scheduling services.
- A creative mindset and an ability to work within a team, completing tasks efficiently, and handling tight deadlines.
- Interest in wildlife and an understanding of conservation issues.
- Willingness to travel to the field as required.
