About the Organization:

India for Children is the sole Media and Communication organisation in the country committed to child rights, our mission is to thrust the crucial cause of child rights onto the front page and into mainstream media, advocating for a world where every child is educated, secure, happy, and free to simply be a child.

About the Role: The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in executing communication strategies and ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across various platforms. This position requires a tech-savvy and detail-oriented individual with strong digital skills and the ability to coordinate and execute across different communication verticals.

Key Responsibilities:

The Communications Officer shall perform and deliver the following responsibilities, which is not limited to:

Content Creation:

  • Develop and produce high-quality content for various communication channels, including newsletters, blogs, websites, presentations, concept notes, reports, and brochures.
  • Create engaging and informative material that highlights the impact of our programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with different teams to gather stories, data, and visuals and create communications that showcase the organisation’s work.
  • Develop infographics, videos, and photo stories to illustrate the organisation's projects and achievements.
  • Engage with external agencies/vendors as per brief to enhance content delivery, fostering better visibility and organisational branding.
  • Develop content for organisation-led editorial campaigns on TV, print, and digital media.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in messaging.

Digital Media Management:

  • Manage the organisation’s social media accounts, including content planning, posting, and engagement.
  • Monitor and analyse social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s website with relevant content and news.
  • Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, SEO, and online advertising.
  • Implement social media strategies to increase followers, engagement, and brand awareness.
  • Develop multimedia content, such as graphics, videos, and animations, for social media and digital platforms.

Public Relations:

  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
  • Support in preparing and distributing press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
  • Support media outreach efforts to secure coverage for the organisation’s activities and events.
  • Support in organising press conferences, media briefings, and interviews to promote the organization’s work.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports on the organisation’s media presence.

Internal Communications:

  • Assist in developing internal communication materials to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged.
  • Support the planning and execution of internal events and initiatives.
  • Develop internal newsletters, bulletins, and updates to ensure consistent and transparent communication.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and feedback within the organisation.

Event Support:

  • Assist in the planning and promotion of events, campaigns, and fundraisers.
  • Develop communication materials for events, including invitations, programs, and promotional content.
  • Provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth execution and media coverage.
  • Coordinate with vendors, partners, and stakeholders to ensure successful event execution.
  • Capture and document events through photos, videos, and post-event reports.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support in engaging with donors, partners, and supporters through effective communication plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and updates to stakeholders to keep them informed of the organisation’s progress and impact.
  • Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and forums to engage with stakeholders and gather feedback.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in communications, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to understand the concept and translate into crisp, compelling content.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one regional language.
  • Experience with social media management and digital marketing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Passion for child rights and commitment to the mission of the organization.
  • Knowledge of designing and editing tools will be added advantage.
