The International Crisis Group is a transnational non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1995. It is a think tank, used by policymakers and academics, performing research and analysis on global crises.

Job Description

This role will be full-time and based in the region (exact location TBD depending on candidates), with flexibility to work remotely. Working with a small but highly professional team of analysts, the selected candidate will be expected to use innovative approaches to promoting and disseminating Crisis Group work. Note that it is understood that candidates are likely to have experience and expertise related to some but not all of the areas within Asia that Crisis Group covers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain regular contact with media representatives and advocacy targets across the region, particularly with regional correspondents and representatives of governments and international and regional organisations;
  • Design and support implementation of a communications and outreach strategy for the Asia Program as well as targeted advocacy activities, in close coordination with the program director and deputy director as well as with Crisis Group’s advocacy and communications teams;
  • In collaboration with the communications team in Brussels, lead in designing and implementing communication plans for the launch in the region of Crisis Group reports and other key publications (including contributing practically to the preparation of multimedia pieces, op-eds, video, podcasts, social media diffusion, etc);
  • In coordination with the advocacy teams, lead in designing and implementing advocacy plans for the launch in the region of Crisis Group publications, and assist Asia Program team in the planning and practical delivery of targeted advocacy events;
  • Assist in designing and implementing public and private events aimed at discussing and promoting Crisis Group’s analysis;
  • Support fundraising activities, in collaboration with the program director and Crisis Group’s development department.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in communications and/or advocacy, particularly in Asia;
  • Existing network of contacts in governments, media and civil society organisations in the region;
  • Knowledge of conflict issues and good understanding of the political landscape in Asia;
  • Experience of working with the media, preferably including giving interviews;
  • Experience with social media/networks;
  • Experience with production of audiovisual materials desirable;
  • Excellent verbal and written fluency in English (proficiency also in an Asian language will be considered favourably);
  • A record of publishing in English desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Availability for travel;
  • Capacity to innovate.
