About the Organization

The Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) is an integrated mission centered on enhancing children's holistic growth in the state. It prioritizes motor and cognitive skills, socio-emotional development, health, nutrition, and early education. By focusing on these aspects, MECDM aspires to empower Meghalaya's children for optimal development during the critical early years of Birth up to 8 years of age  and for pregnant and nursing mothers. This mission adopts an integrated strategy to seize 'missing opportunities,' investing time, money, and resources in children, expanding their future choices. Successful implementation of the Mission is anticipated to boost life expectancy and developmental outcomes, involving community participation and departmental collaboration of departments, namely; Department of Social Welfare, Department of Health, Department of Community and Rural Development (State Rural Employment Society and Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society) and Department of Education.

Job Responsibilities

• On selection of the ECD Graduate Fellow, he/she will be attached to one or more Anganwadi Centre to support the Anganwadi Worker.
• Attend periodic training on Early Childhood Development if and when required.
• Support the Anganwadi Worker to conduct play based learning activities with children at the Anganwadi Center.
• Work with Anganwadi Worker, Anganwadi Helper and ECD SHG Volunteers to collect local resources and prepare Teaching Learning Materials for various activities.
• Support Anganwadi Worker and ECD Volunteers to organise and conduct meetings and awareness programs in the community on the importance of Early Childhood Development.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Graduate in any field
• Applicants must preferably be a member of the SHG Network, Seng Samla or any other Youth Organisation.
• Must be an active volunteer in the community.
• Must display strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, parents and community members.
• Must be active and passionate about working for the betterment of children and the community.
• Is comfortable using technology products like mobile applications, filling online forms and basic reporting skills.

 Term of Engagement

• The fellowship will be for a duration of 1 year
• A certification of completion will be provided at the end of the fellowship.
