Position Summary
CPI is seeking an exceptional Grants Reporting & Compliance Analyst based in India to support global program implementation. This role sits within the Finance team and focuses on detailed financial analysis, strengthening reporting systems, and providing training and support to program staff.
The Analyst will serve as a key regional resource, assisting in the preparation of complex financial reports, maintaining internal MIS for project managers, and ensuring global compliance standards are met across all programs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist the Grants Manager in the periodic preparation of external financial reports for funders, ensuring restricted funds are utilized accurately.
- Maintain and update internal MIS reports to provide project managers and management with timely visibility into spending performance.
- Perform preliminary review internal and external project budgets to ensure accuracy, sound cost allocation, and achievement of cost-recovery targets.
- Support in ensuring compliance with CPI policies, procedures, and donor requirements across financial systems and processes.
Budgeting, Planning & Program Support
- Help prepare financial content for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and gather documentation for donor due diligence.
- Provide day-to-day support to program staff regarding project budgeting and tracking cash flow.
- Provide day-to-day financial support to finance leadership and coordinate with operations and research staff to meet deadlines.
Grants Management & Audits
- Assist in the coordination of grant-specific audits by compiling necessary documentation in collaboration with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and Program teams.
- Support administration of subgrant agreements, including due diligence, financial oversight, and monitoring.
- Compile financial content for Requests for Proposals and manage donor due-diligence financial requirements.
- Review new grant and contract agreements, identify key financial considerations, and flag potential issues to the Finance team.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
- Work under the guidance of Finance team to strengthen financial systems, internal controls, cost allocations, and administrative processes
- Support in developing and implementing new processes to improve project financial management and reporting.
- Assist in developing and implementing organizational policies, federal award procedures, and audit processes
- Ensure integrity of financial records and streamline knowledge management systems.
- Improve utilization of accounting software (Intacct) for more efficient project reporting and fund management.
Collaboration & Operations
- Work cross-functionally to ensure financial processes are clear, efficient, and consistently applied.
- Support overall financial management and reporting improvements across the organization.
- Perform additional ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post Graduate degree in Finance or Accounts and at least 3-5 years post qualification experience preferably within an international NGO or nonprofit environment.
- Experience preparing and reviewing donor financial reports.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP accounting, financial reporting, policies, and grants management within nonprofit or international NGO environments.
- Experience with U.S. federal and/or European government funding preferred.
- Knowledge of the full donor/grant/contract lifecycle.
- Strong technical proficiency, including advanced Excel skills
- Experience with accounting systems (Intacct experience preferred.
