ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

One in every 50, over 26 million individuals in India has Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD). In spite of this colossal number, they are stigmatized and are considered less deserving and are unable to access the resources that they need to achieve their full potential. Within the disabilities space, IDD seems to be the most invisible. They continue to be excluded from India’s mainstream development narrative, experiencing widespread violations of their rights. Founded in 1944, we are one of the oldest & largest not for profit institutes in India serving children & adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Over the past 77 years, we have touched the lives of lakhs of children & their families. We are committed to looking at each child with a belief in their potential to lead fuller and more inclusive lives. We serve over 700 Individuals annually who have IDD and may have other related disabilities such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, visual &/or hearing impairment. We have our campus in Mumbai and rural branches at Deolali & Talegaon.

Job Role: MANAGER - EDUCATION

Location: Mumbai

Reporting To: HEAD - EDUCATION

Summary: Foster growth and development of students with IDD at JVF. Enable teachers and collaborate with stakeholders in building a Center of Excellence through JVF’s academic and functional interventions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborations

Collaborating with the Healthcare Department for any therapeutic interventions, assessments and admissions for students

Actively engaging with the Social Work team in facilitating family/caregiver needs

Connecting with institutes, universities and organizations for workshops, trainings, co-curricular activities etc

Collaborate with stakeholders for planning and coordination of any co-curricular activities

Collaborate with the content and curriculum team in closing gaps identified during the curriculum implementation.

Collaborate with team members to maintain, analyse and present student impact data

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth handover of student during the exit, transfer or dropout process

Team Management: 

Monitoring and guiding teachers for weekly lesson plans and schedules

Guide and support teachers in setting student goals and creating IEP assessments (baseline, mid line, end of year, report cards)

Identifying and creating resources for teacher trainings through the academic year

Visit classrooms and identify avenues for best practices and knowledge sharing between teachers

Enable teachers to implement JVF curriculum and share regular feedback.

Engage with teachers in planning and coordinating for any school co-curricular activities

Ensure effective and engaging interactions between teachers and parent/caretaker

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Special Education (MR) with 8-10 years of experience including managing teachers

Proficient in MS-office- excel, powerpoint and google drive.

Can read, write and speak English, Hindi and Marathi (preferred)
