About the Program

Public Health

MAANAS, AIF's Public Health Initiative, works with the Government to strengthen the delivery of public health services in geographically hard-to-reach and socio-economically vulnerable communities.

Adopting a life-stage approach, MANSI aims to address the critical Health & Nutrition needs of adolescent girls, young couples, pregnant and nursing women, newborns, and children under five. Training Frontline Health Workers (ASHAs, ANMs, & AWWs) in Home-Based Care (HBC) to strengthen individual and family knowledge about healthy behavior during and after pregnancy, MANSI ensures that pregnant women and children receive preventive, promotive, and curative care to survive and thrive.

The initiative empowers adolescent girls in sexual and reproductive health and promotes mental well-being. Addressing childhood undernutrition and anemia across all age groups, MANSI also promotes the adoption of nutrition habits and feeding practices through behavior change activities in communities and focused supplementation efforts.

Over the last 15 years, the program has served 517,239 pregnant women, provided a continuum of care to 380,876 newborns, trained 27,862 Frontline Health Workers, and empowered 259,932 adolescent girls to build agency and menstrual equity.
