Room to Read India was established in 2003 and presently has programs in ten states – Chhattisgarh, Delhi NCR, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Position Overview:
The Assistant – Girls Education Program will provide technical and operational support for the successful implementation of the Girls Education initiatives. The role involves supporting the program's design, planning, implementation, and monitoring while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Program and Administrative Management:
- Manage, execute and track GEP program implementation based on the annual plans and program strategy and in coordination with RtR State office (SO) and Country office (CO).
- Organizing and facilitating training events and meetings with teachers, wardens , community, parents, and girls
- Implement strategies to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including government officials in consultation with RtR SO and CO.
- Explore and secure new resources that would benefit girls, community, and the overall program.
- Conduct joint observation of LS sessions by wardens/teachers with SO or CO members and understand the intricacies of program delivery and session observation along with the feedback loop.
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training sessions for teachers and stakeholders.
Team Support:
- Provide on-the-job support to Teachers and Wardens of KGBVs and ensure necessary coordination and support among them.
- Provide thematic inputs to wardens and teachers during monitoring visits
- Conduct regular planning and review meetings with the team.
Monitoring and evaluation
- Conduct regular visits to school, KGBVs during ongoing activities for regular monitoring as per plan finalized and submit report in desired format.
- Review and oversee various base records related to all program activities of RtR led activities and ensure compliance.
- Support in verification of data to be entered in reporting formats.
- Collect all data and enter it in RtR’s database in GSD and PIIMS/ Survey CTO as required.
- Analyze and share data from GSD/ Survey CTO during monthly/ quarterly meetings as required by the SPO at state level or country office level.
- Any other data entry task assigned by line manager.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Collection and compilation of Monthly Program Report and Quarterly Progress Report from field (KGBVs) and ensure its timely submission to RtR SO and CO.
- Program Assistant can document good practices and success stories and case studies for the program.
- Assist communication point person in the state to orient about different social media channel of Room to Read India and motivate/track team members to like, share and include their thoughts on the social media platform.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Collection and compilation of Monthly Program Report and Quarterly Progress Report from field and ensure its timely submission to RtR SO.
- Program Assistant can document good practices and success stories and case studies for the program.
- Assist communication point person in the state to orient about different social media channel of Room to Read India and motivate/track team members to like, share and include their thoughts on the social media platform.
- Analysis of the Socio-Economic Profile collected for new girls on pre-decided parameters decided in consultation with PO/PAs
Technical Support:
- Support in developing tools, resources, and guidelines to improve program delivery.
- Provide field-level technical assistance and mentoring to ensure high-quality implementation.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data to assess program impact and identify gaps.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Public Administration, Sociology, Education, or any other relevant area.
- At least 3 years’ experience in education programs, preferably with a focus on girls' education or community development.
- Knowledge on one or more of thematic areas-Life Skills/ gender/mentoring/community mobilization/issues related to adolescent girls is preferred.
- Awareness and experience of working on issues pertaining to education and specific to girls’ education is desired.
- Should have experience of working with govt departments .
- Ability to conduct team meetings/ workshops for team on selected themes and operational areas.
- Innovative thinking with problem solving approach with ability to work independently.
- Sensitive and empathetic towards the cause of education for girls and adolescent issues of girls
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to manage diverse tasks and interact with the varied stakeholders involved in the program.
- Computer literacy in standard word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software along with internet skills.
