About Mantra4Change

Nearly a decade ago, Mantra stepped into the education ecosystem with a vision to transform Public Education in India. In a nation like India with complexities of scale and diversity, enabling quality education cannot be exclusive of systemic reforms. Our mission is to enable enriching learning experiences for children by enabling education leaders to drive school improvements. Towards this, we partner with bodies like the Ministry of Education, State education departments, as well as other Civil Society Actors. We enable school improvement through a tri-fold approach - working directly with schools through our innovation projects, working with state governments towards enabling greater system capacity, and by working with ecosystem actors to nurture a collective of changemakers. As part of our work with state governments, one of our key programs is the Punjab Education Collective - a collective of 4 organizations jointly working towards systemic school reform in the state of Punjab, for which we were recently awarded “The Collective Social Innovation Award” by the Schwab Foundation at the World Economic Forum in January 2023. Through the span of the last 10 years, we have been able to reach 272,090 schools, 276,204 education leaders and 36,457,659 children.

About the Role

The Program Lead - Content and Training owns the two things the Block Transformation Program puts in a teacher's hands: the learning content and the training that makes it usable. The role designs and develops concept-anchored Project-Based Learning material for Grades 6 to 8 in math, science, and social subjects, mapped to NCERT competencies, and builds the training modules for teachers, Head Teachers, CRCCs, and Block Technical Teams that turn that material into classroom practice across close to 200 government middle schools. Every session this role designs are built around a single question: what will the teacher do differently in the classroom the next day. The role works closely with DIET Gaya to build master trainer capacity, so that training is eventually delivered by the government system rather than by us. It suits someone with genuine classroom credibility, strong Hindi writing, and the discipline to revise content against what observation and assessment data actually show.

Roles and Responsibilities (but not limited to)

Content Design and Development

  • Design and develop 8 to 10 PBL project units a year for Grades 6 to 8 in math, science, and social subjects, anchored in concepts and mapped to NCERT learning outcomes and NCF-SE 2023.
  • Develop the supporting material each unit needs: teacher handbooks, student worksheets, driving questions, assessment rubrics, and end-product formats, written in Hindi first and classroom-ready.
  • Design content that a teacher with limited preparation time and a crowded classroom can actually run, and test it in a real classroom before it goes to print.

Training Design

  • Design differentiated training modules for teachers, Head Teachers, CRCCs, and Block Technical Teams, based on classroom needs and data insights rather than on a fixed annual calendar.
  • Build every session around one classroom action, with modelling, guided practice, and a clear takeaway the participant will use the next day.
  • Design need-based refresher content for delivery through Block Technical Teams between the main training rounds.

Training Delivery and Master Trainer Development

  • Co-deliver training for teachers, Head Teachers, and CRCCs at DIET Gaya, and facilitate module development workshops with DIET faculty and SCERT resource persons.
  • Build the capability of DIET faculty, master trainers, and Block Technical Teams to deliver the modules independently over time, and reduce our own delivery share each year.
  • Support CRCCs and Head Teachers to run monthly learning circles at complex level where teachers solve real classroom problems together.

TLM, PBL Kits and STEM Libraries

  • Specify the annual PBL kit and the school STEM library, and work with the team on procurement, distribution, and print-ready finalization of handbooks and TLM.
  • Track actual usage of kits and libraries with the Monitoring and Evaluation lead, and redesign what is not being used.

Micro-Improvement Projects on DIKSHA

  • Design and curate Micro-Improvement Projects on DIKSHA that map directly to the classroom gaps seen in observation data, and support teachers to submit them.

Content Quality and Government Alignment

  • Ensure all content is academically accurate, age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned to SCERT expectations, NEP 2020, NCF-SE 2023, and PARAKH middle-stage competencies.
  • Run a review and approval loop with SCERT and DIET so that the material carries government ownership, not only our logo.

Using Evidence to Revise Content and Training

  • Use classroom observation data from the Grade 6-8 Classroom Observation Tool, especially the Check for Understanding domain, along with student assessment results and training feedback, to revise modules and material each cycle.
  • Visit schools regularly to see the content being used, and treat what happens in the classroom as the test of whether the design worked.

Showcase and Recognition

  • Develop the formats and material for annual block and district PBL Melas and for Parent-Teacher Meetings that showcase student work, so that recognition is built into the design and not added at the end.

Experience & Competencies Required

  • Must be fluent in English and Hindi. Strong Hindi content writing skills are essential as the content will be used in Hindi-medium government classrooms.
  • A relevant master’s degree in education, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Must have 2–5 years of experience in curriculum or content development, instructional design, teacher training, or classroom teaching. Candidates with experience in reputed education fellowships are also welcome. Experience in designing and conducting training is required.
  • Must have good instructional design and facilitation skills, with the ability to write content that is easy for teachers to understand and use. Must have working knowledge of Google Workspace (G-Suite), Canva, DIKSHA, and basic AI-based tools.
  • Must be willing to be based in Gaya, travel for school visits and training sessions, and commit to working in the assigned block for the duration of the program.
