Programme Officer for Biodiversity and Food Programme

Organization: Centre for Science and Environment (CSE)
Apply By: 22 Mar 2025
Location: (Delhi)
About the Organization
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a public interest research organisation based in New Delhi.
CSE researches and communicates the urgency of development that is sustainable and equitable.
We believe that the scenario today demands using knowledge to bring about change. This is what we aim to do.
The challenge, as we see it, is two-pronged. On one hand, millions live within a biomass-based subsistence economy at the margins of survival. The environment is their only natural asset. But a degraded environment means stress on land, water and forest resources for survival. It means increasing destitution and poverty. Here, the opportunity to bring about change is enormous by regenerating the natural capital. But it will need a commitment to reform in the way we do business with local communities.
Job Description
The candidate is expected to support policy research, advocacy, communication and capacity building around the programme. The job will entail research and writing for policy papers; communicating through articles in CSE’s magazine Down To Earth; and interacting with stakeholders such as policy makers, regulators, media, industry, civil society organizations, and communities in rural areas. The candidate should be open to travel within and outside India.
The candidate should have strong research and analytical skills along with a flair for writing both technical reports and articles. Willingness to crunch numbers and unpackage complex science, developing issues and concepts promptly is a must. The candidate should be hard working, self-motivated and disciplined.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Experience in the non-profit sector is not a prerequisite.
