Project Coordinator (PC) (P&OCS)

About the Organization
LEPRA Society is an organization working for people affected by Leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, TB, HIV/AIDS & other NTDs, and Eye Care and is governed by a board of distinguished individuals from across India. SAATHII is selected as the Principal Recipient (PR) to implement the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM) supported HIV and TB projects for 2024-27. LEPRA Society will lead as a Sub Recipient for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Job Responsibilities
- The Project Coordinator (PC) is field-level staff at the district level who will report to the SPM-P&OCS. Each PC on average will be catering to 8-12 P&OCS. The PC will have the following responsibilities
- Sensitize prisons and OCS officials about the inmates’ health rights and the project services
- Implement project activities and achieve the project targets in their respective P&OCS
- Select and train Prison Peer Volunteers (PPV), so that they are able to educate and motivate prison inmates to access project services, and also able to identify inmates with high-risk behavior/vulnerabilities
- Coordinate with district health functionaries and other stakeholders to ensure their support in providing HIV, TB, STI, HCV, and HBV testing and treatment services to the inmates.
- Organize HIV, TB, STI, and HCV screening camps in coordination with local stakeholders (SA-ICTCs, DTO, DSRC, and NVHCP officials)
- Coordinate with P&OCS and district health authorities towards ensuring all inmates diagnosed with HIV, HCV, HBV, TB, and STI are initiated on treatment
- Ensure the TB-positive inmates are notified in the Nikshay Portal
- Coordinate with the PPVs towards motivating the HIV+ inmates to give consent to visit their families
- Coordinate with CLH to ensure home visits for motivating spouse and family members of HIV+ inmates to – (a) access HIV testing and treatment services, and (b) social protection services
- Coordinate with CLH to ensure all released HIV+ inmates are adhering to treatment
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports from the P&OCS to DISHA/DTO
- Any other work assigned by the immediate supervisor
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Graduate with computer skills or Twelfth pass with minimum two years of experience of working on HIV projects as a field staff (experience of working on prison interventions / GFATM projects, or TI/LWS projects will be an added advantage). The qualification criteria will be relaxed for suitably experienced candidates living with HIV and/or TB, and individuals belonging to key populations or other vulnerable groups.
- Written and oral communication skills in English and regional language of the state.
- Counselling and outreach and documentation skills
- Sound computer skills, including use of internet and MS office TM software
- Should be based at the districts allotted, for work in the respective zones
- Willing to travel extensively using public transport services
- Ability to work with large network of health care facilities from the government, private
- and non-governmental sectors
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and meeting timelines
- Ability to work as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment
- This position is field based. It requires a minimum of 15-20 days travel in a month to the
- districts and blocks with the designated state and outside, as per needs.
