Position Background:  

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Renewable Energy Project Manager to lead and oversee our renewable energy  initiatives, including planning, executing, and monitoring projects that foster clean energy access, energy efficiency, and  sustainable infrastructure development. This role is critical in managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring compliance with  relevant policies, and driving forward our mission of promoting responsible renewable energy for sustainable  development. This role requires a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project management principles,  and a passion for sustainability. 


The position will be based in Delhi, India. The Project Manager - RE will report to the Programme Lead Renewable Energy. This  is roughly a 2-year project-based position (concluding in June 2026) with the possibility for extension subject to funding and  project extensions.

The Project Manager – RE will be responsible for critical activities for the Renewable Energy Projects that include overseeing  the effort to drive responsible renewable energy in India, ensuring timely project delivery within budget and project timelines,  and managing all technical aspects. Key responsibilities include stakeholder engagement with government bodies,  communities, and backers, aligning project goals with organizational strategies, and ensuring compliance with energy policies.  Monitoring and evaluating project impact, budget management, and generating funds for new initiatives are also essential.  


Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Support the Programme Lead with renewable energy projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time  and with complete budget utilization.  
  • With the support of the team, develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk  management, and monitoring frameworks. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, local communities, government bodies, and relevant agencies to  ensure project alignment with organizational goals.  
  • Support the initiative of driving responsible renewable energy in India by ensuring outreach to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the team to conduct and evaluate technical feasibility studies to demonstrate successful pilots for potential  renewable energy projects on reclaimed mined-out lands in India. 
  • Stay updated on energy policies including the emerging trends. Support the policy and research teams in drafting  policies at various levels. Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial compliance. Support team members in writing proposals and securing backing for new and existing projects.  
  • Support the Outreach Manager to build and maintain strong relationships with project partners, government agencies,  and other key stakeholders. May be required to work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult,  and under physically demanding circumstances when safe to do so.  
  • Requires willingness and ability to travel up to30%.  


What You’ll Bring: 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS degree and 7 years’ experience in conservation practice or related field or equivalent combination of  education and experience. 
  • Fundraising experience, including identifying donor prospects and donor cultivation 
  • Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other  professionals and partners. 
  • Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
  • Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.
  • Experience negotiating. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • A master’s degree is preferred in field such as Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Statistics,  Economics, or a related discipline with 8-12 years of experience in managing Renewable Energy Projects. 
  • Experience of previously working in a conservation or related organization. (experience working with international  NGOs, think tanks or government agencies) 
  • Experience in working on energy modelling software (HOMES, RET Screen, Others).  
  • Knowledge of project financial mechanism and return analysis of renewable energy projects,
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in project management. 
  • Cultural sensitivity, patience, flexibility, and ability to work well in a multi-cultural team and to work closely,  understand and support local partners. 
  • Detail-oriented and excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver required results  in a timely and quality manner. 
  • Relevant experience working within NGOs, think tanks or community-based projects. 
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Experienced in using project management tools and technologies  such as MS-Projects, Smartsheet, Primavera, Trello, etc. 
  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, project management tools, and sustainability frameworks.  Experience with solar, wind, or hybrid systems is preferred. 
  • Prepare detailed project reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and foster partnerships. Excellent written and verbal  communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement. Skills, including the ability to motivate, take self initiative, set objectives, cross functional coordination, and ability to manage stakeholders. 
  • Knowledge of renewable energy policies, environment and social impact assessment and management plans.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to navigate complex project challenges and offer innovative solutions. Comfortable working in diverse  environments, particularly in underserved communities or rural settings.  
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across India/Abroad as needed. 
  • Experience writing project progress report.
