Job Description

Professor Aditya Shrinivas, Economics area IIMB, is looking to hire research associates to support multiple research projects on drinking water, nutrition, health and the environment. The position isideal forthose looking to gain research experience in applied microeconomics and are seriously interested in pursuing a PhD in economics, applied economics or public policy.

This Research Associate will be fully integrated into the vibrant research community at IIMB. They will interact with Economics PhD students, faculty, pre-docs fellows and academic associates. Mentorship and support would be provided to the RA through the process of preparing for and applying to PhD programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Development of data files as well as using econometric methodsto analyze data.
• Managing and analyzing large administrative data using STATA, R or Python.
• Conduct economics data analysis using NSSO/NFHS/PLFS.
• Deliver periodic reports and presentation of findings to the research group.
• Conduct literature reviews.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Masters in Economics, Public Policy or related fields. Exceptional BS Economics (or related fields) candidates would also be considered.

Key Skill and Ability Requirements

• Prior coursework in Econometrics, Statistics, Micro and Development Economics.
• Strong programming skills and experience (STATA or R or Python).
• Prior experience analyzing large datasets (NSSO/NFHS/PLFS).
• Ideally, experience as a research assistant or independent research experience related to Economics (e.g. thesis, independent working paper/term paper).
• Self-motivated to succeed in research and ability to work independently.
