Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible in supporting the Sustainability Head in developing the sustainability strategy for INSWA OU by thought leadership and working with different functions within the OU and external stakeholder. This incumbent will also be Identifying and executing key social development projects in sync with the company’s sustainability priorities. Developing key high visibility partnerships to leverage our marketing assets with linkages to our sustainability initiatives, supporting our communication strategy with key inputs related to our partnerships, publication of periodic reports and commentaries related to sustainability strategies, projects and engagements.

Key functional areas include; Sustainability, Community Relations and Partnerships, sustainability communications and Media Relations.

Sustainability Strategy

Support the execution of the PACS sustainability strategy for INSWA countries and ensure that all identified projects, partnerships and initiatives are aligned and in sync with the overall system strategy and business objectives. This involves conceptualization, execution, completion and final evaluation of multi-stakeholder, impactful social development projects aligned to INSWA sustainability priorities. Provide support and leadership to the PACS leads in SWA countries in developing their local strategies and enabling execution of these strategies through funding from TCCF as well as enabling bottler investment discussions in areas of water, waste and women empowerment.

Job Responsibilities

Sustainability Projects and partnerships

  • Identification of credible and experienced NGO partners in relevant fields for developing workable and successful partnerships to drive Company's sustainability priorities and mitigate risks.
  • Identification of strategic, multi-stakeholder projects post regional need assessment surveys and heat map on plastics, water etc. which have common synergies and alignment towards the sustainability goals.
  • Be able to shift priorities towards work that matters most depending upon emerging local priorities.
  • Facilitating internal approvals, legal and financial Due Diligence, RFA's and Board Resolutions for the identified projects and ensure final grant release to implementing partner, for projects funded by TCCF as well as CCIPL.
  • Establishing KPI's and objectives to meet sustainability goals and supporting NGO partners throughout the project partnership right from due diligence at inception to proposal development and finally awarding of the project.
  • Support the NGO partner for on-ground implementation and key stakeholder engagement – community, local authorities etc. including site visits, frequent meetings with NGO partners to review progress and compliance to KPI's/ objectives
  • Develop routines with the implementing partners and provide regular updates of progress to the sustainability lead.
  • Ensuring quarterly and annual reporting on project progress to TCCF and CCIPL – Governing Council (GC)

Communications

  • Understanding of the sustainability agenda and journey of the organization to support content curation in alignment to the same
  • Supporting the communication strategy through preparation and dissemination of project/ initiative/activation briefs, apprises, reports, case studies and impact stories on CSRs initiatives for ensuring print and digital amplification
  • System wide engagement – with bottling partners, cross functional departments, various communication platforms, media partners for identification of INSWA projects to leverage maximum impact through videos, photo shoots, reports and documents repository.
  • Network effectively with other functions and cultivate relationships within the OU as well as the larger networked teams of other OU’s to share and bring in best practices.
  • Support content development on CSRS initiatives for the Coca-Cola India Journey website.

Social Impact Assessment and independent third-party assurance of CSRS Initiatives

  • Lead the post-implementation impact assessments of projects undertaken by the organization every year against identified KPIs and impact. This involves
  • A systematic process of identifying key physical and social project impacts for each project/partnership/program
  • Development of Terms of Reference (TORs), identifying and engaging credible agencies to undertake the studies
  • Development of SOPs, supporting agency with end to end assessment – collection of data, information, validation, partner interviews as well as community perception and acceptance
  • Development of a communication and socialization plan to leverage the studies and reports, ensuring outreach to target audience.
  • Supporting Coca-Cola Foundation and Technical teams in ensuring independent validation of CSRS projects for assurance of data reported in the Global BESG Report.

Budgets and legal compliances 

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance to 2% CSR spends through CCIPL as per the Companies Act 1956
  • Working closely with the corporate team of TCCF for budgetary allocations to India and SWA and related administrative requirements.
  • Support the Company Secretary for legal reporting through preparation of Director's report

Leverage external forums and

  • Participation in various external forums to communicate about the company's strategic focus and how we support it through CSR initiatives
  • Participation in various industry forums, working groups to support advocacy efforts related to industry position on regulations related to water, plastic waste management etc.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Sustainability/ Public Affairs & Communications in Corporate or Not for profit/ Civil Society organization
  • Understanding about company's business, financial performance, products and their technical details.
  • Understanding of issues related to Coca-Cola’s business such as packaging, water security, social license, environmental and sustainability excellence. 
  • Understanding of the regulatory landscape and experience in working with stakeholders like Government Bodies, NGOs, Industry Associations etc.
  • Ability to build relationships and achieve consensus in conflicting situation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of corporate sustainability and communication strategies and development of publicity events and promotions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop engagement as well as communication strategies.
  • Passion for the cause and positive attitude. Multi-tasking and working under pressure
