Job Description

The ten-year, multi-million-dollar Child Opportunity Fund, which is one of the most ambitious programme for the British Asian Trust, focuses on five high prevalence states and seeks to address the abuse, exploitation and violence against children.

This role plays a vital role in driving programme implementation and fostering a culture of outcomedriven practices for the Child Opportunity Fund's initiatives in India across four priority states through partner organisations. The incumbent will lead the development and execution of State operational and government engagement plans in alignment with Child Opportunity Fund's strategy. They will also enhance programme implementation and management processes for all programme stages and improve capabilities of British Asian Trust and its partner organisations.

Job Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for the management and implementation of the Child Opportunity Fund’s programme in a particular state.

  • Represent British Asian Trust at the state level, communicating its long-term vision, mission, and approach to key government departments.
  • Enhance the capacities of partner organisations in implementation, policy influencing, project monitoring, evaluation, and financial management.
  • Manage the state programme to ensure high-quality delivery of all components.
  • Lead collaboration with state and district government departments such as education, women, child development, social welfare, and others.
  • Develop and implement state operational plans and engagement plans aligned with the Child Opportunity Fund's strategy and theory of change.
  • Monitor state performance against outcome indicators specified in the operational plan and proposal.
  • Develop state-specific social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) Strategy.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for collaborative action programmes through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with relevant government departments.
  • Conduct capacity-building training for government departments and stakeholders on Child Rights and Protection.
  • Ensure timely submission of analytical donor reports to the Senior Manager – Programmes.
  • Conduct regular visits to Partner Organisations to ensure quality project implementation and government collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Finance and MEL Officers to ensure programmes delivery stays on track.
  • Share British Asian Trust's work with District Magistrate (DM)/Additional DM (ADM – Development) and other senior officials at district and state levels.
  • Manage and train all British Asian Trust staff and partner organisations at the State level on programmes delivery, monitoring, management, documentation, and dissemination of key learnings.
  • Lead in organising state-level learning events, sharing consultations with government, UN, or other relevant stakeholders

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

The role requires a motivated professional, able to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A Master’s degree in social work (MSW), Social Sciences (Economics, Population Studies, Sociology, or Social Anthropology), Psychology; Population Studies, or Business Administration - E
  • Formal training in Social Mobilization, Leadership, and Partner Management- E
  • A minimum of ten years of work experience, with at least five years dedicated to Partner Management and collaboration with Government relations. –E
  • Experience in programme and budget management.- E
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to articulate strategic thinking and long-term programmatic visions. - E
  • Patience and ability to advocate with duty bearers at various levels. – E
  • Practical experience in leading government collaboration at district and state levels. - E
  • Ability to write and consolidate analytical reports for donors and senior management within the organisation. - E
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Hindi. – E
  • Clear understanding of rational use of print and electronic media. – D
  • Experience of working on Child Rights and Protection. - D
  • Preference given to candidates with an understanding of Governance structures at the block, district, and state levels, including their roles and responsibilities. - D
  • Capacity to navigate complex multi-stakeholder platforms. -D
