Job Description

EPIC India is seeking a full-time Senior Research Manager to execute innovative ideas related to energy and environmental policy, manage research and field teams, and play an instrumental role in leading and managing EPIC India’s partnership with the Transport Department of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. This position offers the candidate an opportunity to work closely with EPIC India affiliated researchers to manage important research projects and programme initiatives focused on identifying and implementing innovative policy solutions for vehicular pollution governance in Delhi.

The ideal candidate possesses a mix of economics, analytical, managerial & communications skills and is passionate about working with cross-functional groups to drive large-scale impact in the energy and environment sector.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with Principal Investigators and local research teams to drive project planning and support (including but not limited to) guiding research design, field planning, data collection, data management, power calculations, and preliminary analysis.
• Manage relationship with the Transport Department and communicate effectively (both in writing (incl. presentations) and verbally) with internal and external stakeholders to drive progress on existing research projects and foster new high-value research partnerships.
• Manage and mentor nior staff members including Interns, Research and Senior Research Associates. The Manager will support their teams and PIs in all areas of project execution, maintaining integrity of research design and generating high-quality research outputs.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed project budgets and work plans in coordination with operations team and PIs.
• Ensure project activities are aligned with project budgets.
• Lead or assist in writing technical proposals, donor deliverables, work on budgets and work plans, be responsible for ethical compliance on the research projects and will be overall responsible to drive forward different workstreams independently.
• Provide support EPIC India on other research, policy and communication-related tasks as needed, or as assigned by EPIC India’s senior leadership.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree (or higher) in Economics, Finance, Business, Development or related fields, with strong interest in international development policy as demonstrated by coursework and/or professional experience

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of work experience in research and project management, with substantial client-facing components, and at least 3 years of direct project management or academic research experience
• Experience managing and supervising junior staff members
• Experience in social science or economic field research or experience conducting experimental field research in developing countries is preferred

• Fluent in English and Hindi
