Estimated Prescribeid CSR of big 500 companies FY 2019-20

Our research team brings out annual report on estimated prescribed CSR spend of companies every financial year, to give insights about emerging trends,changes in CSR-fund availability with companies and scale of projects in current financialyear. This report presents estimated prescribed CSR of companies in current financial year(2019-20).

As per the Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013, we tried to look at overall CSR landscapefor the financial year 2019-20 by estimating the prescribed CSR of 500 large companies. Weidentified 500 large listed companies (either BSE or NSE or both) with INR 1 Cr. and above estimated prescribed CSR and tried to analyse the data.

Highlights

 Large 500 listed companies will spend about INR 13400 Cr on CSR, to comply with the CSR rules.

• Overall prescribed CSR for all listed and unlisted companies will be in the range of INR 16500-18000 Cr.

• Top 10 Companies will contribute almost 1/5th of the total CSR Fund.

• 30 companies will spend over INR 100 Cr. each on CSR projects, while 25 companies will spend between INR 50-100 Cr. on CSR projects.

• Almost 115 companies will spend between INR 10-50 Cr. on CSR projects.

• Banking and finance sector companies will contribute almost 1/5th of the total CSR fund.
