About the Organization
Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) is a non-denominational, non-government development organization. AKRSP(I) works as a catalyst for the betterment of rural communities by providing direct support to local communities. AKRSP(I) is active in over 3255 villages of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra. It has impacted lives of over 3.5 million people from marginalised sections of society. Over 80% of the households impacted by AKRSP(I)'s work belong to marginalised communities like tribals, dalits, and minorities. Over 60% of beneficiaries are women who form a core group for program interventions.
Job Description
The Development Organizer (Social) will play a key role in mobilizing communities, strengthening local institutions, and facilitating participatory processes for sustainable development. The position requires field engagement with rural communities, promoting awareness, capacity building, and ensuring effective implementation of project interventions with a people-centered approach
Job Responsibilities
- Mobilize and organize community members into groups/associations/cooperatives for collective action.
- Facilitate participatory rural appraisal (PRA), village planning, and need assessment exercises.
- Build awareness on social issues such as gender equality, education, health, livelihoods, and rights.
- Strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Institutions, Producer Groups, and other people’s organizations.
- Provide training, handholding support, and leadership development for community-based organizations.
- Support in data collection, documentation of field activities, case stories, and success stories.
- Coordinate with local government bodies, line departments, and other stakeholders for convergence
- Assist in monitoring and reporting project progress at the field level.
- Ensure inclusiveness, especially participation of women, youth, and marginalized communities.
- Capacity Building of Rural Community.
- Plan & execute various project activities at field level.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelors/masters degree in social work, Rural Development, Sociology, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in community mobilization and development projects
