Our work in Asia focuses on accelerating country adoption of safe and inclusive DPI, strengthening regional collaboration, and fostering ecosystem-wide engagement with key stakeholders, including governments, multilaterals, and the private sector.

Job Description

The Asia Director will lead Co-Develop’s engagement across Asia, with initial prioritization on Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. This individual will be responsible for driving DPI adoption in the region, securing partnerships, overseeing a regional team, and ensuring that Co-Develop remains a trusted and integral actor in Asia’s digital transformation. The role requires a strong ability to navigate complex policy environments, align regional efforts with global DPI initiatives, and coordinate with diverse stakeholders to achieve scalable impact.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Co-Develop’s strategy for Asia, ensuring alignment with the organization’s global goals and regional priorities.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement efforts, including relationships with governments, multilaterals (ADB, World Bank, etc.), private sector partners, and civil society organizations.
  • Drive the adoption of DPI in priority countries, leveraging Co-Develop’s research, technical assistance, and investment tools.
  • Oversee and implement strategic initiatives, including regional capacity-building programs, multi-country DPI adoption efforts, and ecosystem coordination activities.
  • Manage and expand Co-Develop’s presence in Asia through advocacy, thought leadership, and participation in key regional/local events.
  • Secure funding and co-financing agreements with multilateral organizations and philanthropic partners to sustain DPI initiatives in Asia.
  • Establish and maintain knowledge-sharing partnerships with think tanks, universities, and research institutions to enhance DPI policy development.
  • Drive communications efforts in the region by creating a compelling DPI narrative.
  • Represent Co-Develop in regional and global DPI-related events, contributing to discussions on policy, technology, and investment in digital transformation.
  • Lead a regional team, responsible for driving progress in Asia.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Required Experience

  • 10-20 years of professional experience, including experience in technology, project management, and strategy development – preferably in Southeast Asia
  • Understanding of DPI and its applications in government and public sector transformation
  • Strong network of digital transformation ecosystem stakeholders across the region, most critically in Southeast Asia
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Exceptional entrepreneurial skills and the ability to work successfully in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Proven ability to manage external stakeholders and build trusted relationships to drive initiatives forward
  • Ability to work effectively with remote and diverse teams
  • High emotional and cultural intelligence, with the ability to engage effectively with government and other stakeholders across multiple countries in Asia
  • Ability to travel frequently to represent Co-Develop in the region and beyond

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to the field of using digital technologies for large-scale impact, especially in developing countries
  • Experience partnering with government departments, multilateral agencies, and large philanthropic organisations
  • Experience working in an agile, startup environment
  • Experience managing people
