Job Description

The Project Manager – Women Entrepreneurship will drive strategic and operational efforts to initiate, strengthen, and scale individual and collective enterprises for women. The role requires expertise in livelihood promotion, enterprise development, product design, market facilitation, and ecosystem building. The Project Manager will work directly with women entrepreneurs, community groups, SHGs, producer groups, and market actors to create sustainable, market-ready business models.

Job Responsibilities

Program Design & Implementation

  • Develop and execute detailed project plans for entrepreneurship development initiatives.
  • Conduct baseline assessments, feasibility studies, and market surveys to identify viable enterprise opportunities.
  • Facilitate formation and strengthening of SHGs, producer groups, and collective enterprises.
  • Design training modules on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital literacy, and business management.

Enterprise Development & Capacity Building

  • Support women entrepreneurs in product development, pricing strategy, branding, packaging, and quality control.
  • Build entrepreneur capacity through workshops, mentorship programs, exposure visits, and skill-based training.
  • Provide handholding support to ensure enterprise sustainability and profitability.

Market Linkages & Partnerships

  • Identify and establish strong forward and backward linkages (raw materials, suppliers, vendors, buyers).
  • Facilitate access to local, regional, and digital markets—including exhibitions, e-commerce platforms, and retail partnerships.
  • Collaborate with government departments, financial institutions, CSR initiatives, and private-sector partners.
  • Help women access relevant schemes such as NRLM, NULM, MSME initiatives, and other livelihood programs.

Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting

  • Track project milestones, outcomes, and impact indicators.
  • Prepare progress reports, MIS documentation, case studies, and donor reports.
  • Collect and analyze data to refine and improve project strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements.

Community Engagement

  • Build trust and rapport with community members, especially women from vulnerable and marginalized backgrounds.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with community groups, SHGs, and local leaders.
  • Ensure inclusion, safety, and accessibility for all project participants.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Economics, Business
  • Administration, Rural Management, or related fields.
  • Additional certifications in entrepreneurship development, livelihoods, project management, social entrepreneurship, or related areas are an added advantage.

Professional Experience

  • 3–4 years of hands-on experience in women’s entrepreneurship programs, livelihood promotion, micro-enterprise development, or economic empowerment projects.
  • Experience in facilitating market linkages, product development, and enterprise growth.
  • Prior work with NGOs, social enterprises, SHGs, or community-based institutions is preferred.
  • Experience managing field teams, vendors, and multiple stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the women’s livelihood ecosystem, SHG models, and micro-enterprise value chains.
  • Knowledge of marketing, supply chain management, costing, business planning, and basic financial management.
  • Ability to design and deliver training modules for low-literacy groups.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, digital tools, and data management.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (specify) preferred.
  • Sensitivity towards gender issues and commitment to inclusivity.
