Job Description
WHO India Country Office collaborates with the Government of India and relevant stakeholders within the framework of the collaborative Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), to actively support the national nutrition priorities of addressing all forms of malnutrition. This includes addressing dietary risk factors for NCDs, undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. The SSA will provide techno-managerial support for these efforts, focusing on strengthening evidence-based programming and reporting for donor partners.
Job Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Team Leader (NCD), and under the direct supervision of the National Professional Officer (Nutrition), the incumbent will perform the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate trans-fat surveillance, to harmonize protocols and ensure proper data capture and reporting.
- Lead knowledge management activities related to nutrition programme including monitoring, evaluation and technical documentation.
- Develop data collection tools and training materials for programme staff and partners.
- Review tools and methodologies for data collection, behaviour change communication to ensure alignment with WHO and partner agency standards.
- Oversee implementation of data collection activities across field sites; supervise and support staff in the process.
- Draft, consolidate, and finalize donor reports; synthesize findings for programme learning and dissemination.
- Participate in and organize field visits for assessment, tool validation, and monitoring implementation quality.
- Liaise with partners and support collaborative activities.
- Other project management and technical tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s) from time to time.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Essential: Master’s degree in Nutrition or MBBS or MPH from a recognized institution/university.
- Desirable: Ph.D. in nutrition

Functional Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated skills in developing data tools, staff training, and monitoring field implementation.
- Ability to work in highly demanding environment, liaising with academia, multilateral partners
- Proficiency in computer applications and ability to search and analyze relevant health and nutrition and related data, draft reports.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, analytical and interpersonal abilities, excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Hindi also desirable.
Experience:
- Essential: At least two (2) year of professional experience working at national and state level on development and implementation of nutrition related programs and operational research with demonstrated ability of liaising with various stakeholders for implementation of programmes.
- Desirable: Thorough understanding of the related national and state policies, programs on health and nutrition. Working experience with donor agencies at the national and state level will be an advantage.
