Job Description

The Senior Manager - Investments will lead all investment-related functions at AISF, including deal origination, analysis, execution, portfolio management, reporting, and ecosystem engagement. The role will contribute directly to building Assam's startup funding landscape, managing the foundation's portfolio of investments, overseeing the design and rollout of financial instruments, supporting investor onboarding, and ensuring best-in-class practices across all funding activities.

• Design, implement, and manage AISF's suite of startup funding instruments (grants, equity, hybrid/innovation financing).
• Lead structuring of investment frameworks, conduct comprehensive due diligence, and oversee ongoing portfolio monitoring and performance evaluation.
• Ensure robust risk management and the smooth execution of exits.
• Liaise with key stakeholders, including investors, incubators, legal/compliance professionals, and government partners.

Job Responsibilities

Investment Evaluation & Strategy

• Source potential deals, screen opportunities, and prepare detailed internal investment memoranda.
• Develop and refine innovative financial instruments tailored to the needs of early and growth-stage startups.
• Conduct industry, market, competitive, and financial analysis to assess investment opportunities.

 Due Diligence & Transaction Execution

• Lead financial, commercial, and legal due diligence on target startups.
• Structure, negotiate, and close equity and debt transactions, collaborating with external advisors when necessary.
• Oversee the preparation and review of term sheets, shareholder agreements, and related documentation.

Portfolio Management

• Build and actively manage AISF's portfolio of funded startups, tracking fund utilization and performance.
• Develop reporting systems to monitor and enhance investeе company growth and compliance with funding terms.
• Advise and support portfolio companies to optimize business growth and fundraising readiness.

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement

• Liaise with the Investment Committee/Board to present, defend, and secure approval for investment proposals.
• Build and sustain relationships with external investors, sector experts, and partner institutions.
• Represent AISF at industry events, conferences, and capital raising forums.

 Research & Analysis

• Conduct primary and secondary research on startups, sectors, and the broader investment landscape.
• Track key metrics, sector news, and market developments to inform investment strategy.

Process & Compliance

• Ensure timely and proper execution of legal documents and compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Support external agencies during financial, commercial, or legal due diligence as required
• Prepare exit strategy documentation and coordinate with potential acquirers for portfolio exits.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting or Business Management
• MBA (Finance) from top tier B-School / CA/CFA

Desired Profile

• Experience: 7-10 years in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, fund management, or corporate finance.
• Experience in evaluating, structuring, and managing investments in startup or scale-up ecosystems preferred.
• Demonstrated track record in fund structuring, financial modeling, portfolio management, and stakeholder relationship management.

Abilities

• Deep understanding of the startup and investor ecosystem.
• Strong grasp of accounting, corporate finance, tax, and financial statement analysis.
• Proven ability to conduct rigorous market, sector, and company research. Advanced skills in MS Excel (financial modeling), PowerPoint, Word, Google Suite, and modern productivity tools.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation abilities (both written and verbal). High integrity, independence, reliability, accuracy, attention to detail.
• Collaborative leader and mentor; able to build effective teams and relationships across diverse stakeholders.
• Comfortable working under deadlines with minimal supervision

Salary

Fixed CTC of 24 lakhs - 30 lakhs depending on skills and experience.
