About the Organization

The FIFA Foundation is an independent foundation established within the meaning of articles 80 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code (SCC). As enshrined in article 2 of its charter, the FIFA Foundation aims to promote social change worldwide through the support of programmes, initiatives, projects and organisations, in particular those that use football as a tool for social development.

About the Grant

  • Non-governmental organisations worldwide invited to apply for funding for football-related social projects
  • A record 130 entities from across 54 countries were selected in 2024 instalment
  • Programme targets underprivileged children and young people

Following on from a record-breaking edition in 2024, the application period for the 2025-26 iteration of the FIFA Foundation Community Programme will open on 26 June, giving non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from around the world the chance to apply for funding for football-related social initiatives.

Launched in 2019, the FIFA Foundation Community Programme has been working with local projects that harness the power of football to effect positive social change and address the most pressing global challenges facing underprivileged children and young people within the communities in which they operate.

The programme has grown exponentially since its inception five years ago, and in the 2024 edition, applications from a record 130 NGOs from across 54 countries were accepted, benefiting 154,924 people, including 74,863 women. In total, almost one million people have benefited from FIFA Foundation Community Programme-funded initiatives.

Each applying organisation is entitled to apply for funding of up to 50% of their annual turnover or USD 30,000 to help support football-related projects and initiatives within the communities in which they run.

The programme seeks to engage with NGOs in a variety of initiatives that contribute to good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, no poverty, reduced inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions, as well as to the promotion of decent work and economic growth. NGOs are encouraged to showcase how they use football to tackle social issues and bring about positive social change. The comprehensive selection process involves strict eligibility criteria and requires organisations to submit an extensive range of supporting documentation in the areas of finance and child protection.

The FIFA Foundation will be delivering two online capacity-building workshops to assist interested parties with the application process. The first workshop will cover the process in general terms and the financial aspects, while the second will deal with safeguarding and the criteria each applying organisation must meet in order to be considered for the programme.
