NYDHEE (Network for Youth Development and Healthy Environment), established in 2001, is a pioneering nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of marginalized communities across Odisha and Jharkhand. Our work focuses on tribal, Dalit, and economically disadvantaged groups, including ultra-poor and migrant households, small-scale farmers, disadvantaged women, unemployed youth, and underprivileged children.

Position Purpose

Assistant Cluster Coordinator (ACC) will lead community-level implementation of special projects in KBK-Cluster blocks by strengthening local institutions and mobilising people to take collective action. The role will work closely with Village Resource Centres, schools, Anganwadi Centres, Youth Clubs, farmer groups, PRIs and frontline workers to improve education, WASH, nutrition and resilient livelihoods. This is a field-based position requiring regular interaction with project participants, communities, village institutions and local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Community Mobilisation

  • Mobilise children and their parents, youth, women, farmers to initiate interventions and actively participate in project activities.
  • Support and promote Village Resource Centres as spaces for learning, community dialogue and local problem-solving.
  • Facilitate village meetings, awareness campaigns and community planning sessions.
  • Visit new villages to understand local needs, build relationships with communities, and identify opportunities for future project interventions.
  • Build and improve strong working relationships with community leaders, Self-Help Groups, Panchayati Raj Institutions, local CBOs, and frontline workers.

Special Projects

  • Work with schools to improve children's participation in learning and co-curricular activities.
  • Mobilise and support School Management Committees (SMCs) to play an active role in school planning, governance and community participation.
  • Facilitate learning and different need-based upskilling activities through children and youth groups through Resource Centres.
  • Promote safe drinking water, sanitation, handwashing and menstrual hygiene practices through community awareness activities.
  • Support AWCs in organising fun-learning, nutrition and health awareness activities.
  • Encourage families to adopt healthy nutrition and hygiene practices through kitchen gardens and demonstration events.

Coordination & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly work plans and implement field activities on time.
  • Maintain activity records, attendance registers and field documentation.
  • Collect case stories, articulate good practices, photographs and community feedback.
  • Submit timely reports and participate in programme review meetings.
  • Coordinate regularly with project staff and government line officials.
  • Required Qualifications: Diploma / Graduate in Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, Education, Agriculture or any relevant discipline.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum 1 years of experience in grassroots community development.
  • Experience working with schools, Anganwadi Centres, Village Resource Centres, Youth Clubs, farmer groups or community-based organisations.
  • Experience in facilitating village meetings, community mobilisation and behaviour change activities.
  • Good understanding of government programmes related to education, nutrition, WASH and rural livelihoods.

Skills & Competencies

The successful candidate should be:

  • From the KBK region and have a good understanding of the local language, culture and community.
  • Comfortable working directly with children, youth, women and farmers.
  • Able to mobilise communities and facilitate village meetings, trainings and awareness sessions.
  • Have good communication, documentation and report writing skills.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and basic digital tools for field reporting.
  • Willing to travel regularly across project villages in the assigned cluster blocks.
  • Own a two-wheeler & possess a valid driving licence (mandatory).
