Job Description/Responsibilities

The Communication and Documentation Officer will play a key role in supporting the development, documentation, and dissemination of communication and knowledge products for the organisation. This position involves working closely with internal teams and external partners to document key activities, develop impactful content, and ensure effective communication across various platforms. The role also involves organising events, conducting research, and creating materials for outreach to diverse audiences.

Communication & Outreach:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to enhance the visibility of the DAY-NRLM’s work;
  • Prepare and edit press releases, program briefs, and promotional materials;
  • Create content for the website, social media, newsletters, and other communication channels;
  • Support the creation and execution of outreach campaigns.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Document program activities, including case studies, Stories of Change, and lessons learned and good practices;
  • Produce high-quality reports, publications, and presentations for stakeholders;
  • Organise and curate knowledge products, such as research findings, impact reports, and policy briefs;
  • Support the preparation of progress reports for donors, stakeholders, and senior management.

Event Management & Coordination:

  • Assist with the organisation of workshops, seminars, and training sessions;
  • Develop collaterals related to events and activities;
  • Support internal events, meetings, and conferences with relevant content, presentations, and documentation.

Content Creation & Design:

  • Develop creative content for outreach, including articles, blogs, infographics, and videos;
  • Work with graphic designers and multimedia experts to create visually engaging materials;
  • Ensure that all communication products are consistent with the organisation’s brand and messaging.

Knowledge Management:

  • Maintain and update the knowledge management system for easy access to program materials and documents;
  • Collect and analyse data from various sources to inform communication strategies and reports;
  • Share valuable information with internal teams and external partners for collaboration and mutual learning.

Media & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and other stakeholders;
  • Prepare presentations and communication materials for different stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and community organisations;
  • Engage with partners to amplify messages and increase the impact of communication efforts.

Programme support:

  • Regular programmatic support to the PMU; 
  • Engagement with SRLMs to support programmatic uptake;
  • Establishing cadence for regular monitoring and oversight of the programme across states. 

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Development Communication or related fields.

Experience:

  • At least 8-10 years of professional experience in communication, knowledge management, documentation, or related fields;
  • Proven experience in writing, editing, and producing high-quality content for various platforms;
  • Experience with social media management and digital content creation;
  • Experience in developing communication strategies and knowledge products;
  • Experience of working with the Government Department or Central Ministry would be an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English and Hindi);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience with graphic design and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Canva);
  • Familiarity with website management tools (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp);
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to support and manage large scale programme.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in the non-profit, development, or gender-related sectors;
  • Strong organisational and project management skills;
  • Experience with video production, photography, or other multimedia formats;
  • Willing to travel within country, including remote locations;
  • Ability to be agile, and work with deadlines.
