About the Organization
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), headed by the Prime Minister of India, is the apex body for Disaster Management in India. Setting up of NDMA and the creation of an enabling environment for institutional mechanisms at the State and District levels is mandated by the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NDMA is mandated to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management. India envisions the development of an ethos of Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness and Response.
The Indian government strives to promote a national resolve to mitigate the damage and destruction caused by natural and man-made disasters, through sustained and collective efforts of all Government agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations and People’s participation. This is planned to be accomplished by adopting a Technology-Driven, Pro-Active, Multi-Hazard and Multi-Sectoral strategy for building a Safer, Disaster Resilient and Dynamic India.
Job Description
The Digital Communication & Content Professional (Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Lead Consultants) will be engaged to provide technical expertise at varying levels of responsibility and experience. These experts will contribute to managing the communication systems, content creation, and information dissemination during disaster response and recovery phases. The roles are structured as follows:
- Consultants will assist in implementing crisis communication strategies, managing digital platforms, and ensuring content is aligned with NDMA’s objectives.
- Senior Consultants will lead the development and execution of digital communication strategies, overseeing media management, and ensuring the smooth flow of information.
- Lead Consultants will provide high-level leadership, managing the entire digital communication operation, developing crisis communication plans, and ensuring the strategic use of digital platforms to disseminate vital information.
Job Responsibilities
The Digital Communication & Content Professional will be expected to contribute to the following tasks and responsibilities, with variations in scope and leadership based on the level:
- Crisis Communication: Consultants will support the execution of crisis communication strategies, ensuring messages are disseminated quickly and clearly to the public. Senior Consultants will lead the development of crisis communication strategies, working closely with key stakeholders. Lead Consultants will oversee the crisis communication efforts, ensuring all messaging aligns with NDMA’s disaster management goals and reaches all affected parties in a timely manner.
- Media Management: Consultants will assist in managing media relations, ensuring that the correct information is communicated through appropriate channels. Senior Consultants will lead media management efforts, maintaining relationships with media outlets, and ensuring NDMA’s messages are accurately portrayed. Lead Consultants will provide strategic guidance on media engagement, ensuring alignment with national disaster management protocols.
- Data Management: Consultants will assist in managing communication data, tracking messages, and ensuring that the information flow is clear and accurate. Senior Consultants will lead data management efforts, analyzing communication metrics and adjusting strategies as needed. Lead Consultants will oversee data management at a strategic level, ensuring that all data supports informed decision-making and enhances disaster response strategies.
- Information Dissemination: Consultants will contribute to the dissemination of information through digital platforms, ensuring the messages are timely and relevant. Senior Consultants will lead the development and execution of information dissemination strategies, ensuring that key stakeholders, including the public, are continuously updated. Lead Consultants will manage the overall information dissemination process, ensuring that all content is accessible and transparent to the public.
- Public Relations: Consultants will support the development of public relations content, ensuring messages align with NDMA's disaster management objectives. Senior Consultants will lead the creation of press releases, social media content, and other public communications. Lead Consultants will oversee public relations strategies, managing relationships with external partners, and ensuring that NDMA’s public image remains positive during crisis situations.
- Content Development: Consultants will assist in creating digital content such as articles, blogs, social media posts, and reports. Senior Consultants will take the lead in content development, ensuring it is tailored for specific audiences and media channels. Lead Consultants will oversee the overall content strategy, ensuring that all content aligns with NDMA’s disaster communication objectives.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Education:
- Master’s in Communications, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certifications: Professional certification in Information Management, Crisis Communication.
Experiences:
- Consultant: 3-7 years of experience in managing communication systems, content creation, and information dissemination.
- Senior Consultant: 8-12 years of experience in managing media, crisis communication, and public relations.
- Lead Consultant: More than 12+ years of experience in strategic communication, managing large-scale crisis communication operations, and leading public relations efforts.
