Purpose of Job

About the Project

The initiative for Evidence-based Primordial Prevention Model for reduction of modifiable risk factors for Diabetes is being implemented select districts with pre-dominantly tribal population across 5 states in India. This is a collaborative project between Piramal Swasthya Management & Research Institute, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation and Public Health Foundation of India. The project aims to achieve the following:

  1. Evidence-based models for primordial and primary prevention developed based on formative research and pilot interventions in place and ready for scale up
  2. It will be interventions to improve knowledge and practices towards risk factors of DM through school based primordial and primary prevention approaches
  3. Increased health literacy and knowledge about diabetes prevention among tribal women of reproductive age through community influencers leveraging committees and institutions

 

About the Role

 

This position would be responsible for timely development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation plans for project activities. This will entail designing and implementation of M&E frameworks, development of logical framework, results-based approach and conducting research studies of a good quality and high ethical standards under the guidance of Project Director.

The MLE Lead will provide technical assistance to staff and partners to ensure that all components of the project are monitored as needed, scopes of work for evaluation reflect key learning questions, high quality external or internal inputs, facilitate evaluations, recommendations are adopted, and lessons learned are disseminated. S/he will lead efforts to demonstrate clearly the progress and impacts of THC to showcase the program with internal and external stakeholders.

 

The role is expected to work towards,

Development of M&E plan

  1. Understand program and develop a robust M&E plan to systematically collect, analyse and use data and processes to capture progress of the project;
  2. Identify and develop/adapt tools for data collection on key indicators and reporting templates;
  3. Draw lessons from the evaluation and monitoring findings for improving project strategies.

Data Management and Analysis

  1. Ensure timely collection of data from different verticals;
  2. Periodically compile all data, analyze and prepare analytical reports and presentations for use by team members internally, and at government/external meetings; 
  3. Develop and implement data quality assurance process and implement periodic data quality audits;
  4. Lead efforts to utilize the findings, provide inputs to the states, clusters and district teams to advocate with concerned government departments to streamline programs, collection of reports, information and data on a regular basis;
  5. Develop knowledge products based on the studies and survey findings for external and internal stakeholders;
  6. Undertake field visits to project geographies to monitor the implementation of activities and evaluations.

Reporting

  1. Support State and National team in preparing project reports and other internal program review reports with adequate data and analysis;
  2. Support in development of technical & policy briefs, case studies and presentations.

Research

  1. Development of assessment tools
  2. Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for the project
  3. Develop good quality research concept notes, proposals based on needs of the organization, community along with adequate review of academic and non-academic literature.
  4. Plan, develop and implement research studies in collaboration with partners.
  5. Technically assess quality of proposals, data collection, data analysis and lead research manuscript preparations.

Essential Qualifications

Master’s degree in statistics/ public health / economics/ demography/ development science or related field.

 

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 7-8 years of experience in the field of M&E, data management and MIS handling;
  • Experience of providing technical assistance to government programmes (health/nutrition) and the government information systems will be preferred;
  • Experience of research writings in form of papers/presentations at national/international platforms
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies;
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and SPSS/Stata;
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills;
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (reading, writing & oratory skills) is a prerequisite. Knowledge of other languages spoken in India would be an asset;
  • Ability to effectively communicate, network and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external), to achieve program objectives;
  • Ability to work independently and good problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to seamlessly multitask in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and meet deadlines;
  • Should be a team player with strong training & mentoring skills.

 

Additional preference (Desirable)

  • Experience on data collection tools, apps for data collection and dashboard visualization software will be an added advantage
  • Proven experience in working with tribal communities or in rural/underserved areas, with a particular focus on youth or students.
  • Experience working with multi-stakeholder groups, including government agencies, NGOs, and local community leaders.
