Job Description

The CSR & Sustainability Lead will manage relationships with a diverse group of people representatives of the public and private sectors, community-based organizations, nonprofits, and civic leaders as well as programme beneficiaries.

The primary role of the CSR & Sustainability Lead is to act as the company’s ‘conscience’, championing and developing the ethical, sustainability-focused, and community-minded side of business. The CSR & Sustainability Head will also work with various departments to drive and manage activities that will contribute towards building a caring and inclusive culture within the company. The position offers the opportunity to engage with cross functional teams across supply chain management, procurement, production, environmental management, different business units, human resources as well as the Board of Directors

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an integrated strategy for sustainability, ESG and CSR, aligning it with the company's overall business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate sustainability and ESG principles into the company's strategic planning, risk management, and decision-making processes.
  • Monitor and assess relevant sustainability, ESG and CSR trends, emerging issues, and regulatory developments to ensure the company remains current and compliant.
  • Establish and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets related to CSR and ESG performance, ensuring transparent reporting and communication with stakeholders.
  • Lead the company's engagement with external stakeholders, including investors, customers, regulators, and industry associations, NGOs on sustainability and ESG matters.
  • Develop and manage the company's sustainability and ESG reporting, ensuring adherence to relevant frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISO 26000).
  • Assess and manage the company's exposure to sustainability and ESG risks and opportunities, including climate change, resource efficiency, human rights, and supply chain responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the company's investor relations and communications teams to effectively communicate sustainability and ESG performance and initiatives to investors, analysts, and the media.
  • Creating policies, guidelines related to sustainability programs affecting the environment, health, and safety of the organization.
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders and presenting regular sustainability reports and conduct sustainability assessments.
  • Assessing and analysing company policies and processes to identify areas in and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organisation’s commitment to sustainability.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a current working knowledge of, and ensuring compliance with, all applicable local, state, federal, and internal laws and regulations, including the Companies Act, 2013 and the Income Tax Act, 1961.
  • Acting as the focal point for the Company's ESG and CSR initiatives in geography and building relationships with community partners, key stakeholders.
  • Working with marketing and PR teams to drive internal engagement and promote storytelling.
  • Proven effectiveness in driving multi-stakeholder ESG and CSR projects, cross-team projects and planning processes to deliver desired results

Financial Responsibilities

  • Driving budget & monitoring spending to deliver results in line with planned objectives.

People Responsibilities

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to distill complex information into simple messages and concise communication materials, tailored for the audience.
  • Ability to seek out, understand, and incorporate feedback from the underserved communities that PI is committed to serve

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Social Sciences, Economics, Business or Environmental management

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of work experience with at least 10 years in a managerial role in corporate sustainability, clean renewable energy and the developmental sector.
  • Industry to be Hired from
  • Preferred Agro Chemicals/ Life Sciences / Pharma
  • Preferred Manufacturing Sector

Functional Competencies

  • Ability to support strategy development and independent execution of ESG programmes.
  • Experience of working with ESG teams in MNC settings and development sector
  • Ability to understand provisions related to GRI Reporting/Various frameworks such as ISO/ TCFD.
  • Excellent Project management skills ( Project planning, resource allocation and management, project monitoring, reporting)
  • Tact and discretion, ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Good proficiency in MS-Office
  • Strong account management and relationship building skills
