The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, often simply shortened to GIZ, is the main German development agency. It is headquartered in Bonn and Eschborn and provides services in the field of international development cooperation and international education work.

Job Responsibilities

The National Junior Policy Advisor supports the project in the political and technical dialogue between the stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and cooperation between EU and India under the EU-India Digital Policy Dialogue; and between Germany and India under the IndoGerman Digital Dialogue. He/she is responsible for:

  • Provide policy and technical advice to the EU, German and Indian partners, and other stakeholders to meet the project objectives.
  • Contribute to conceptual and strategic development of project activities and operational planning in close collaboration with partners and team.
  • Project and knowledge management, and communication of project and knowledge management to the team.
  • Collaborate with GIZ staff in India and if needed across regions for support in project activities and seeking opportunities for knowledge sharing. Disseminate and support dissemination of lessons learned and best practices for knowledge sharing, learning and portfolio development purposes.
  • Organise activities like events, delegation visits and expert exchanges.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • University degree in an area relevant to the project, preferably in public policy, economics, business administration, law, international relations, or a comparable field.
  • Knowledge of digital policies landscape in India and areas of bilateral collaboration with the EU and Germany.
  • Very good knowledge of key Indian policies and stakeholders around digital and economic policy, demonstrated through work experience with an Indian ministry or other relevant organizations.
  • High affinity to new digital trends and their likely impact on policy, economy, and society.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write concise and clear texts on political and technical topics at international publication level.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, decentral, and agile environment.
  • 3+ years’ professional experience in a comparable position (e.g., in governmental / international organizations, technical-scientific organizations, private sector).
  • Excellent analytical, writing, communication and diplomatic skills, confident handling of politically sensitive topics. Ability to work in a multicultural and agile environment.
  • Very good working knowledge of ICT (related software, email, internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
  • Excellent proficiency in both written and oral English.
