About the Organization

Slam Out Loud (SOL) is a non-profit that uses the power of visual and performing arts like theatre, poetry, and storytelling to build Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills - like imagination, analytical thinking, and curiosity in children - from underserved communities. SOL's mission is to transform how arts education and SEL happen for underserved children in India. They work with teachers and teaching artists and create contextual curriculum resources integrated with the lens of climate action and gender.

Job Description

As a Programs Consultant for our Arts for All Program, your role will involve:

Nurture and maintain Government relationships:

• Liaison with stakeholders in the state headquarters, district project offices, and resource persons to elevate their investment in SOL’s program.
• Identify, build, and expand Slam Out Loud’s credibility in the department, while leveraging existing opportunities to introduce Arts and SEL into the system.
• Design monthly/annual reports, and review structures to update the department on SOL’s work and encourage their buy-in.

Foster collaborative efforts:

• Build meaningful collaborations with NGOs and community organizations to bring value to our programs with the state partnership.
• Be the face of SOL in the state, and lead all partnerships (with department and other NGOs including but not limited to) including tasks such as MOUs, permission letters, meetings, and other administrative tasks.
• Advocate Arts and SEL in all interventions and encourage the sustainability lens.

Operational excellence:

• Manage and build a high performing team of 4 people towards driving excellent program outcomes.
• Continue designing our AFA program with short to long-term goals and faster feedback loops.
• Create and track program timelines, set up review mechanisms for strict adherence.
• End-to-end program management with a deep lens in problem-solving, agility, perseverance, collaboration, and systems thinking.

Teacher training:

• Design and execute teaching training end-to-end that is experiential, innovative, and rooted in arts and SEL.
• Support the curriculum team with on-ground knowledge and feedback to create a contextual learning experience for students.
• Oversee communication channels with the teachers, resource persons and other stakeholders and build continuous feedback loops.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in relevant fields (such as operations, program design, implementation, managing government relations)
• Graduate in Business Administration/Management, social work or other relevant fields
• Experience of working with children or a teaching fellowship would be an added advantage
• Written and Verbal fluency in English and Marathi is a must. Hindi is an added advantage

Mindsets, skills and knowledge:

• Having a solid experience of working in partnership with the education department of state government
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with a focus on motivation, delegation, and team building.
• Excellent training design and facilitation skills, can comfortably run a 2-day workshop for about 40-50 people.
• Super organized, can create workflows, design strategies keeping program roadmaps in mind, and successfully execute them
• Conceptualise high-quality events, build work plans and implement them to achieve program and learning outcomes.
• Reflective problem solver, adept at identifying and addressing challenges creatively
• Be able to build strong and meaningful government and NGO relationships fostering diverse collaborative initiatives for SOL
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to carry out classroom observations and present findings effectively
• A strong understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is essential, while familiarity with gender awareness and climate literacy is preferred.
• Proficiency in G Suite and MS Office
