JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a self-motivated, high energy and a quick learner who is open to work in a team with diverse expertise and demonstrate extraordinary rigor in completing the assignments/ projects related to climate and sustainability. This role gives the opportunity to build relationships and work closely with the Department of Rural Sanitation/ Drinking Water and Sanitation Department/ Department of Jal Shakti/ PHED (Public Health Engineering Department). The role requires providing technical support to the State Department in implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen.
THIS ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Develop State Level Initiatives
- Build relationships and work closely with the state department to explore opportunities for our Climate/Water work in the following additional departments: Department of Rural Development, Department of Soil Conservation, Forest Department, and Department of Panchayati Raj.
- Initiate mapping of institutions, stakeholders, social welfare schemes, etc to understand the gaps and identify opportunities.
- Experience of designing technical/leadership trainings/workshops for the middle managers along with developing modules and facilitating sessions is desirable.
- Understands the following flagship programs of Govt. of India - Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) & MNREGA, etc. Applicants that have worked in any of these schemes would be preferred, but this is not a prerequisite.
- Must be proactive in building & managing good relations with stakeholders & govt officials at State, District & Block Levels.
- Facilitate discussions with stakeholders on understanding needs and co-creating pilot initiatives and innovate scaled implementation models
- Become a catalyst for the departments at state / district and support initiatives around JJM, SBM, other climate change areas
- Design and Facilitate capacity building sessions for govt officials, village communities on various allied topics
Capacity Building and Collaboration-
- Identify domain-specific learning needs of the team and plan learning interventions
- Utilize technology & tools to continually learn and innovate, share knowledge with team members and enhance service delivery
Manage Partnerships-
- Build and sustain strong partner relationships with state level Govt. officials & Partner Organizations for achieving Project Goals within defined timelines
- Ensure timely Approval of Budget, guideline, SOPs etc. from Govt. for Project Initiatives
- Collect insights from the field through regular field visits and provide inputs to government bodies, design solutions to address existing gaps in the C&S field.
Desirable Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in subjects like Environmental Sciences, climate Management, water management, Forest Management, Agroforestry/ Farm Forestry, Ecology, Botany, etc.
- Master’s degree in subjects like Environmental Sciences, climate Management, water management, Forest Management, Agroforestry/ Farm Forestry, Ecology, Botany, etc. is desirable
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the development sector: preferably in water, rural development or education
- Developed or implemented projects related to water management, grey water management, plastic recycling, etc. will be added advantage
Essential Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (In English and Hindi)
- Excellent MS office Competency (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
- Ready to travel 25 to 50% of the time across field locations and offices of STP PU.
- Proficient in documentation & writing skills in English.
- Good conversational skills in both Hindi & English.
- Knowledge of local language would be desirable: Kashmiri, Dogri, Urdu, Marathi, etc.
- Good knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint.
- Should have a passion towards nation building & solving issues in Climate Change.
- Should have the ability to develop people in the team and work collaboratively.
- Able to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.
- Applicants that have worked previously with government officials would have an advantage.
