Job purpose

The Research Associate will be responsible for the tasks related to research undertaken by the ICP. S/he will be required to closely work with the Senior Research Associate.

Job Description (Role Expectations) 

The role will entail but not be restricted to, the following responsibilities:

Technical

1. Conduct secondary research studies on child rights and child protection issues using multiple data sources
2. Assist in planning and executing primary research studies; developing study instruments in consultation with team; analysis and interpretation of research studies
3. Assisting in developing study protocols
4. Analysis and interpretation of data collated from primary/secondary sources
5. Archive key data from different sources
6. Developing position papers using multiple data sources
7. Work closely with the research team in developing credible partnerships and collaborations with research partners and organisations
8. Prepare regular updates and archive key data from different sources
9. Perform any other work related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or head of the research division

1. Prepare minutes of the meeting and documentation

 

Skills & Competencies for the role: 

• Understanding of the social, economic and political context and status of children in India and their health and nutrition
• Understanding of laws related to children and their health viz, UNCRC, RTI Act, ICDS, ICPS, NCLP, etc.   
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analytical skills
• Experience in handling large-scale data sets and Census data
• Demonstrated documentation and report writing skills
• Strong language proficiency in English and Hindi; Excellent writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team work capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver within deadlines

Education, Experience and Exposure

Education

The candidate should have an M.A/M.Sc/M.Phil Degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Demography, Statistics, Economics, Development studies, Sociology, Psychology or a similar field from a reputed university/institute

Experience & Exposure

Candidates with M.Phil degree must have a minimum of 1 year experience of working in child rights, child protection, child health, nutrition, education or other related development programmes and research initiatives Candidates with M.A/M.Sc degree must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in child rights, child protection, child health, nutrition, education or other related development programmes and research initiatives Experience of  statistical analysis using SPSS, STATA Experience of use of qualitative data analysis software   The minimum experience and exposure criteria can be relaxed in the case of suitable candidates.
