About the Organization
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.
Job Description/Responsibilities
This research associate position will work under the technical supervision of Research Manager, Saksham Pramaan, at t h e Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
Specifically, the research associate will:
- Carry out a search and review of academic literature on HIV/AIDS programs, specifically the proposed evaluation studies.
- Carry out secondary data analysis using NACO data
- The research associate must travel across different states for data collection.
- Coordinate the recruitment of consultants and field investigators (advertise, finalise the list, call for interviews etc.)
- Organize the training for the field investigators and consultant at the state level (logistical and content for the training)
- Develop the planning for field investigation along with the research assistant and field supervisors
- Plan the overall field work, monitor the fieldwork and data collection process.
- Overlook the data management including maintaining data quality and accuracy
- Overlook the transcription, translation processes
- Assist in Qualitative data analysis
- Assist in writing the research reports
- Keep a record of all documents
- Support other Saksham Pramaan work as needed/requested by the programme eam
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences/Social Work/Population Studies/Public Health and allied fields.
Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in research projects in the field of HIV/AIDS is desirable. The candidate should have research skills in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, management, and analysis. Conversant in t h e local language in addition to English. Well-versed in reporting and documentation. She/he shall have experience conducting FGDs/IDIs with HRGs and Bridge populations. The candidate should be sensitive towards issues relating to HRG communities and PLHIVs.
Essential:

- Ability to strategies and implement the programme to get the expected outcome
- Willingness to travel.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the National AIDS Control Programme and programmatic evaluations
- Quantitative data collection skills and knowledge
- Qualitative data collection skills and knowledge
