Job Description

WWF-India is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with inherent sensitivity towards conservation of nature, to contribute to our existing work on promoting sustainability with Indian businesses with a focus on ensuring circular economy by managing the flow of plastics, e-waste and textile waste across the entire value chain and eliminating the leakage into the environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and managing projects on circular economy in the areas which critically interfere with biodiversity and ecosystems. This will include effective delivery and execution of the project as per timelines, coordination with internal and external stakeholders/partners/consultants, reporting and project documentation, identification and leveraging opportunities for scale up and providing a regular status update on the progress to the team.
  • Developing innovative projects on circularity in sectors such as plastics, e-waste, and textile.
  • Work on Life Cycle Assessment in critical sectors mapping resource utilization and emission footprints.
  • Mapping of upstream and downstream value-chain to explore and establish business case for recycling.
  • Build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders (policy-makers, regulators, businesses, think-tanks, industry associations) and leading outreach to drive the adoption of sustainable business practices promoting circular economy in plastics, e-waste, and textile sectors and sectoral transformation.
  • Facilitate research in the respective area of work and develop reports, white papers.
  • Develop high quality documentation both technical/ non-technical based on primary and secondary research.
  • Facilitating sustainability of circular economy initiatives through market enablers as well as policy advocacy.
  • Developing and managing relationships with external stakeholders, such as corporates, industry associations, social organizations, policy-makers, Government agencies etc. to facilitate sectoral transformation.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant national and international waste management scenarios in the sectors of interest.
  • Ideating projects and develop proposals in the respective area of work.
  • Communicating and disseminating established project outcomes through advocacy, events, workshops etc.
  • Convening sector stakeholders’ meetings, events and conferences; Representing WWF-India in external fora.
  • Support in other deliverables related to SB division.

 Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Material Science/ Environmental Science/ Sustainable Development/ Economics or related disciplines, from a recognized university.

                             OR

  • MBA in Material Management/ Sustainability Management/ Sustainable Business

                                  OR

  • M. Tech. in Material Engineering / Environment Engineering or related disciplines, from a recognized university.
  • Working experience of minimum of 6 to 8 years in the area of Circular Economy in sectors like e-waste, textile, and plastics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on the environmental impacts of above-mentioned streams, technical understanding of the material flow in the domestic value chain, existing regulatory frameworks and initiatives undertaken by corporate companies working in this space.
  • Researching ability to develop white papers, advocacy notes etc.
  • Ability to develop projects on circularity in sectors such as e-waste, textile, and plastics.
  • Ability to map to upstream and downstream value-chain to explore and establish business case for recycling, and also doing Life Cycle Assessment for mapping resource utilization and emission footprints.
  • Experience of working on value-chain development between informal and formal sectors would be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience of proposal development and technical report writing.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders from the Government, industry, think tanks, financial institutions and end users.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence key stakeholders on the sustainability agenda, especially as it relates to the business world.
  • Ability and desire to travel as needed, to attend meetings with key corporate partners in and outside India.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
