About the Organization
Swaniti Initiative is a social enterprise that is working at the intersection of climate, governance and last mile delivery. We believe that while the willingness and resources exist, there are fundamental gaps in the execution within communities that is the biggest crisis in the climate movement. Accordingly, Swaniti works with subnational governments to conduct microplanning exercises with consultations with community and key stakeholders to understand the pathways forward, provide technical assistance to subnational governments to provide support in program implementation and support in monitoring and delivery of programs.
Swaniti has been working across multiple geographies in the global south to unlock capital. Our three core metrics include unlocking public capital, ensuring last mile communities are directly benefitted and creating systemic changes in the public service systems. While we are continuing to focus on impact, it is critical to have a lead who has a deep understanding about monitoring, evaluation and learning. Our intention is to create an institutional capabilities to measure and document the scale of our impact and look at how learning can be replicated across the institution.
Job Description
Swaniti Initiative is seeking a Senior Manager for its Just Transition program to lead initiatives aimed at facilitating equitable and inclusive transitions toward a sustainable and low-carbon economy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative and qualitative research, solid understanding of policy ecosystem, program management, community engagement, and sustainable development. The incumbent is expected to work collaboratively and diligently with stakeholders, including governments, industries, parliamentarians, labor organizations, and communities, to ensure that economic, social, and environmental justice principles are at the forefront of transition efforts.
Job Responsibilities
Research and Technical Expertise
- Finalize and execute research projects to guide policies;
- Coordinate with all the concerned stakeholders during the finalization of various components related to research;
- Propose new ideas and execute research requirements as per the needs of the program;
- Conduct desk reviews and primary research to synthesize technical information on relevant topics for policymakers;
- Provide technical review and feedback on project outputs, communications, and other documents as relevant;
- Conduct a thorough analysis of relevant policies, programs, legislations, and environmental governance framework etc.
Program Design and Management
- Develop, implement, and oversee programs promoting just transition principles, ensuring alignment with stakeholder’s interests and organizational goals;
- Efficiently monitor and manage budgets and other administrative requirements of the program;
- Publish periodic reviews of the programs to internal and external stakeholders.
Policy Advocacy
- Develop and execute engagement strategies based on programmatic
- findings/learnings/recommendations etc. to engage with decision-makers, the public and other stakeholders for progressive policy-making;
- Build and maintain strong and working relationships with key decision makers;
- Represent the organization at events/forums/meetings etc. to pursue policy objectives;
- Organize consultative meetings, events, seminars and workshops to drive analytical and policy work of the Program.
Others
- Contribute to the development of proposals, reports, concept notes, and research briefs for organizational goals;
- Support in other parliamentary work of the team;
- Collaborate with communications, administration and finance verticals for project purposes;
- Team Management;
- Draft contracts, Scope of Work (SoW) and manage entire end to end coordination with grantees/vendors/consultants;
- Support other projects/verticals as and when required.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced university degree (PhD/M.Phil or Master’s degree) in economics, public policy or other allied areas;
- High-level knowledge of Just Transition Principles and related domestic and international ecosystem;
- Minimum 7 years of work experience for candidates with Master’s and 3-4 years for candidates with completed PhD;
- Advanced expertise in statistical tools and software with strong data analysis and visualization skills;
- Prior experience of working in the policy/governance/development sectors;
- Project management with government and decision-makers at its interface;
- Strong stakeholder management skills;
- Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and synthesize diverse qualitative and quantitative environmentally related data and information;
- Ability to follow up multiple work-streams simultaneously;
- Strong communication skills, including fluent written and verbal English;
- Team management and public speaking skills;
- Demonstrated experience in just transition, environmental governance, sustainability and climate change etc;
- Publications in reputed journals (preferred);
- Knowledge of Air Quality (preferred).
