ICRW undertakes research and programs that are focused, evidence-based, and action-oriented; provides technical assistance to partner organizations, donors and governments; and advocates for new or improved policies, programs and technical assistance to partner organizations, donors and governments.
Job Description
The Senior Technical Specialist will be responsible for providing research and program management support for the project. Based on the project and institutional priorities, the incumbent will undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
Research
- Under the guidance of the project director/lead conceptual development and implementation of the projects’ research activities and deliverables, including literature reviews, learning workshops, primary research and secondary analyses.
- Undertake research ethics related activities, tools development, training of team, data collection, analysis and synthesis of research findings from field data.
- Develop internal and external dissemination products including reports, case studies, policy briefs, power-point presentations and creative knowledge products.
- Provide technical support to partners, including on conceptual and program design, research, monitoring tools, capacity building, and dissemination of results.
Program Management
- Work in close collaboration with project partners, team members, supervisors and project director to define strategic direction and work plans for projects.
- Provide day-to-day management of project work plans, including monitoring, coordinating, and updating workplan and ensure that project team, consultants and partners are on track with deadlines for deliverables.
- Manage routine communications with the team, consultants, and partners on the routine functioning of projects; and produce project reports and updates, as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the project budget in coordination with the project lead.
- Collaborate with communications teams to support outreach efforts to diverse stakeholders, including the media.
Organizational Development
- Contribute to strengthening internal institutional systems and processes.
- Represent the organization on external platforms to advocate and highlight ongoing work, and participate in collaborative events, training sessions, and policy engagement processes.
- Participate in proposal writing and business development activities.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (sociology, development studies, economic, social work, political science, public policy, gender studies or related subject).
- Work experience: 8-10 years of prior experience working on issues of gender, women's economic empowerment and informal women workers.
Research skills:
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, including a demonstrable proficiency in one or more related analysis software.
- Ability to mine relevant literature, synthesize data and independently draft reports.
- Ability to plan and execute research activities for projects independently.
- Prior knowledge and experience of programming and policies on informal women workers.
